... although, I suppose, the best thing Adobe can strategically do is aim for a raft of popular Flash-based apps in the App Store, thereby creating a barrier to any further anti-Flash restrictions.

Apple still call the tune here, and can bring in further anti-Flash restrictions at any time they choose, retrospectively if they want. However, it's completely worth Adobe's while to react immediately in this fashion. That seems scary to m

I got the impression that the "drab packaging" options were only intended for distribution to internet resellers, not for all-purpose use. Which I suspect is one of the reasons why this is slow to catch on. I've heard that one of the reason

I've been watching Harald Welte's tweets about attending a court hearing over this: Today I learned in court that removing a module using 'rmmod' has nothing to do with the #linux #kernel ;) lol. [1] but AFAIK noone yet knows the specific

I actually just ditched my iPhone for a phone only marginally more sophisticated than this[1], but with the same standby time. I thought about trying to find an F3 instead, the only thing that put me off was the apparently very crummy text

One comment I've read from photography tech types is that the correct term for this is "tone mapping" not "high dynamic range". I don't think it's ever caught on outside of pedant circles, though. :)

I'm not the one who downvoted you, so I thought I'd reply. Cos you kind of have a point. But I'd argue that a psychiatrist is a medical specialist in the same way that a cardiologist or a urologist is. Everyone needs to be aware of their ca

I think I see what you're getting at here, and I agree that unstigmatizing mental illness is important. But does "everyone" really need "help" from the psychiatric profession?

Will be interesting to see what variant of AutoCAD is released. My Dad is an architect, very long-term AutoCAD veteran, long term disliker of Windows. IIRC the previous cross-platform AutoCAD was the stripped down LT (is that right?) versio

Same. After lots of awkward silences from "I'm a software developer", I just say "I'm in IT" and then judge from the person's reaction if there's any point elaborating. Some people switch off immediately, so you know you need to find someth

Hopefully someone (or many people) will offer hosted versions. I think this is the thing. I also like the idea of techy types (like us) being able to host our own servers for small groups of our less techy friends.

I don't think the criticism was for prettiness, but just for aping existing social network look, feel and functionality. Which the FAQ says up-front is one of their aims: By default, we think it'll ship with a plugin to offer functionality
