Refurbished Apple products are generally in almost indistinguishable condition from new, and are thus likely in better condition than a device you bring for repair months or years into using it. Using refurbished devices to replace used dev

RSRs [1] are sort of not this though. They’re still a bit weird, but can contain updates for WebKit and/or Safari in a very small update that installs very quickly. Also worth noting that WebKit is buried pretty deep in macOS (as it un

They’ll just go to other forms of media, and/or skip long form videos altogether. With platforms like TikTok also being extremely popular, advertisers may simply choose to focus their budgets on these platforms instead of YouTube.

Ah ok, makes sense. I’d recommend you check out Apparency [1], which can inspect .app bundles and show you what’s up with the signing on your bundle. It looks like you include a few frameworks (which also need to be signed), so maybe you ha

Weird. I just downloaded Ganache and it ran and opened just fine, no warnings. Are you experiencing this on your own machine, or just other machines? And what version of macOS?

This is just completely untrue (definitely in the US): https://support.apple.com/self-service-repair I’ll accept that this doesn’t cover all devices in the last seven years, but it does cover recent devices.

It’s actually not. You can be sure that there will be manufacturers out there who will skimp on quality to make some money at a lower price, and repair shops will buy that stuff to grow their margins. There are plenty of things (e.g. phone

You really can go anywhere. Rotterdam, The Hague, Haarlem, Leiden, Delft, Gouda, Utrecht, Zaandam, maybe even Alphen aan den Rijn. I’d even consider Groningen on this list (although Groningen is a 2 hour journey). These are all places withi

Your understanding is correct, on both points. The only content you’ll see from people you don’t follow is if an account you do follow “boosts” it (equivalent to a retweet), or if you browse the federated timeline (which shows you a bunch o

Sounds nice! Unfortunately the XPS13 9315 I have (similar to the XPS13 Plus you have) doesn't have webcam support out of the box and has graphical driver glitches (both apparently due to missing driver support from Intel). The OEM 20.0

This statement also carries so many implications. Is the Twitter database public? Can I also download from the Twitter database? Has Twitter now had a data leak? Does Substack just use a single IP that Twitter has... blocked?

Also having your app data stored within a bundle that (during updates) is literally just removed and replaced would lead to data loss. I don’t think there is any system that actually stores app data within/next to the binary itself.

Protect is much better than ATP, both on the endpoint and the admin console. Crowdstrike is also good, with minimal resource footprint. On my old 16” 2019 MBP, ATP used to legitimately cause a ~10C increase in “idle” temps. Not a huge fan.

Agreed. No idea how it’s possible that this hasn’t even been floated for several years at this point. Every time Twitter announces a paid feature that isn’t this, I am disappointed.

Groningen is an outlier in using Google Workspace for email iirc. Most of the Dutch universities I came into contact with (including the one I used to attend) were deep into on-prem Exchange, with some moving to O365.

The 3090 heralds the return of “extreme” SKUs in the line up that was introduced with the 490 until the 690. There was no 790, but I would consider the Titan/Titan Z SKUs to have picked up that segment.
