I've gotta chime in here ... Y'all are mad! Never have I heard anyone speak of the secret dip like this! It's lovely. Now, that Papa John's dip... Disgusting.

What are you talking about? Why wouldn't an IRB approve of this "research"? Also, IRBs are not the panacea for how research should be done. They're designed to protect the university legally more than to protect particip

An appendum: I acknowledge "thriving" is not the ideal word to use. However, bullying within academia exists and is increasingly more common than people release. Often because it's something that goes unsaid and unreported, i

I agree, but in practice this is rarely the case for multiple reasons depending if we're taking about PhDs or postdocs. For PhDs, they've commited to a long project, so might feel defeated for quitting. For postdocs, it's tru

I'm not sure how you're making the connection between competition within labour markets leading to less bullying? The research field may not be that relevant when it comes to bullying as it is prevalent across fields.

In my experience, and that of my colleagues within a UK institution, also in computer science, the university does indeed take it seriously. We've had external auditors come in and ultimately do nothing. The problem is that the univers

You nearly had me, but then wouldn't the same quantity absorb the same amount of water? I've no idea really, but wouldn't you serve the same quantity of sauce with the pasta?

Not sure I agree. In my house, if we make a sauce regardless of pasta served with it, it will be entirely eaten. Then the plates licked. I agree that pasta shapes are required for certain dishes.

Why should it depend on the pasta type? 100g penne is same as any other type.

These do seem interesting, thanks for sharing. Also, what do you mean by "participatory" in the context of machine learning? Is there a seminal paper that defines it? I ask as in HCI and other fields, participatory had a VERY defi

Daft question: how do we know if the pronunciation is correct in the song your partner is singing? Given its in an older form of English and English is not well known for being spoken as you read it (like Latin).

This is quite disheartening to read. We do know that the OP did NOT apply the scientific method - just look at the estimated timeframes. Estimates are not science. Likewise, N=1 and sharing experience is not "science", particularl

A TL;DR of OPs post: start simple. Visit /r/malefashionadvise and follow the basic starter guide, i.e. chinos, white oxford shirt, and leather shoes. You DO NOT need to spend 2.5k to look good: aim for 100-200 from ASOS.com and yo
