"I wouldn’t call this censorship," Dr. Alberts said. "This is trying to avoid inappropriate censorship." Wow. So he thinks that if they don't self-censor, the government will censor for them... And that that makes it not censorship? Ouc

I am so looking forward to a huge army of newly-trained programmers who view prototype-based inheritance as the default and classical inheritance as weird. Similarly, I look forward to a whole set of various modules and libraries to gra

Carnegie Mellon is quite a stronghold of this. They don't teach much coding -- they hand you the books, give you projects and grade the results. If you produce workable code, mostly you win :-) It's telling that CMU is considered such a g

The 25 next-stage interviews are the only part that sounds even slightly unrealistic to me. The phone interviews are 30-60 minutes each, so 40 of them is no problem (20-40 hours of work). The next-stage interviews are going to vary from 1-

Overall, this is really excellent. My town is small but near Silicon Valley, and this does a great job of showing me stuff that's actually near me. Well done! I imagine it's going to be hard to present information in the same way for larg

Microsoft is well aware that they can just break antitrust agreements and the enforcement is unlikely to have any teeth. That was their approach for many years, and I'm sure they remember how effective it was... And yeah, your footnote d

Yes. If the really good people won't work for you because you're evil, that makes a huge difference. Here, if you're old enough to remember, try this one: "Of course Microsoft didn't care that a lot of the top talent wouldn't work for

"git blame" helps too - yes, you know it was you, but that tells you what commit added that line. Now do "git log -p 31dc4a" (or whatever) to see the commit's comments.

Darwinism suggests that if ghosts can continue to exist (and reproduce?) and affect the world to create more of themselves (e.g. tell people that it's not so bad), then they will be selected-for. Ceasing to exist is, in a strict Darwinian s

Sure. Usually if you give embarrassing people the runaround, they eventually go away. It was, admittedly, way too optimistic for the government to assume every seized domain would work this way. But for them to assume this one specifi

And yet here I am, not stopping. I probably have some ulterior motive for reading, rather than really doing it in order to be qualified for that startup idea I have. But I won't know that until the next article gets upvoted that tells me my

That'll need to be a different poll, partly because I've worked for a number of startups and only had one exit - in general, we'll need to vote in some other way to get a feel for that.
