Yea this also one reason I don't like how these two languages are often lumped as C/C++ so often. These days they have diverged even further. So I find funny to see C/C++ on job listings like it's one thing. While you ca

Your talking about price gouging in the strict legal sense. I suggest just read the first paragraph of wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_gouging Particularly these sentences: * "In precise legal usage

No this is not irrational. When it comes to things like this they are only able to justify that price because information asymmetry. It's not irrational to not want to get gouged or overpay. That extra money if it was not wasted becaus

That message passing comes with a lot of overhead while it might be more generic. Making the already bloated software we use these days even slower does not sound like a better alternative. That would make interacting with OS slower, and pr

I hate this. I also hate that the cost to produce an item/product is sometimes quite opaque. I don't care if you think I can pay more. Stuff like this just tells me your ripping me off to get a larger margin of profit.

Oh god Apples platform is a mess!!! I would hate to see more of that. If they think C is bad. Try interacting with for instance objective C at a low level is even worse for functionality provided by the OS.

It's not exactly ignored in C itself. That's what things like the sizeof() operator are for and standard macros like INT_MAX and INT_MIN. The problem here is once compiled this information is not readily accessible without being a

COM! Have you ever tried interacting without some automated tooling or language support! It's horrible and verbose. When it comes to setting up everything to interact with COM, I feel likely I would be more productive in assembly. Alth

That's my thought as well. It probably would be even worse. For instance it possible to write a leaf function in assembly for AMD64 that runs both on linux and windows if all you do is return a value. This is because they both use RAX

This one I am really torn on. On one hand I really like that RISC-V is open. However, on the other hand I do not like the idea of it being used to avoid sanctions. The problem is an ISA that can be sanctioned is not truly open. The two desi

There a lots of reasons a screw could be deformed from being removed other than being a cheap alloy. They could have added lock-tite or other thread adhesive. The person removing the screw used the wrong size bit or did not apply pressure p

No not at all, that advice is still good. Even more important if your are talking about modifying algorithms. Your gonna want proofs of resistance or immunity to certain classes of attacks. A subtle change can easily make a strong primitive

Yes you kinda can with an FPGA, but you gonna generally be limited to how fast you can clock. The RPi4 clocks at like 1.5 Ghz with 4 cores, and if you want 4 fast cores that will eat up a lot area. A pretty fast softcore is gonna be like 50
