I switched to Xubuntu and have grown to love XFCE more than I loved Gnome2. Best features: ability to script and directly hack configuration settings, basic features for window tiling. With scripts I can fully configure a dev box with a s

One important point of the article is that war is good for innovation. In war, people unite around common goals, and are willing to sacrifice in a way that is impossible in peacetime.

In my experience, if you are a competent TDD practitioner, you have a leg-up on those who are not. Sometimes a big leg up. Yeah, it takes a long time to become competent.

My $.02 - drop the expectations and the mental self-talk. Just do it. Have fun and give your partner respect and compassion, no matter what, whether your time together is short or long. Repeat. Learn by doing.

This is fantastic news. I love RubyMotion and can't wait to try it on Android. Especially want to learn how easy it will be to create wrapper objects to have a common API across platforms.

Yeah - I went to a rust-belt high school in the 80's, and remember all the excessive pessimism. On my return visit this spring, I got to see how the story unfolded. Burned out buildings. Unpaved streets. City reverting to wildland. Th

Where I grew up in Michigan: exact same thing. As a kid the omni-presence of social lubricant was great! But the cost grew over time. Many of my friends and family killed themselves with drink and drugs, and some others were wiped out by

With 9.4, what will be the best option for multi-master replication? Will 3rd party tools like bucardo remain the preferred method, or will there be another strategy that is more integrated with PG?

I subscribed to DAS and watched all the videos. I admire Gary and other TDD advocates. I believe in the power of fast tests. But still, after watching the videos, I can't do what Gary does. I'm not that good, and nobody I have
