So don't use them in a context where they require close scrutiny?

I agree - but everyone seems to believe that their web site is actually an application.

I viscerally dislike manually arranging windows. Have you investigated auto tiling? Also how well does this work on smaller screens? My preferred ergonomic posture is slumped on the sofa with a laptop on my belly.

It's a non-zero switching cost for me. Every site that doesn't work in Firefox is a pain to use and I mostly don't bother.

I made a joke: > Prior to his seminal work Turing published a lesser known 1935 paper: "On Caffeine with an Application to the Anfangsverzögerungsproblem" I think it might be a little too niche.

I think the reason you're getting so many comments on this aspect of it is because a lot of people on HN have been through several rounds of the browser wars and many care deeply about keeping the web vendor neutral (especially in term

Yes - I don't understand the "Chrome" part at all. I presumed it was a Chrome extension but it doesn't seem to be.

If I wasn't in bed on my phone I would disagree at length and in great detail with this. Have you met any 7 year olds? Have you taught any beginners to do computer stuff?

The main effect of slow rollouts on me is that I never use the feature. It goes like this. 1. There's a service I use sporadically or used to use 2. They announce a new feature that might potentially mean I'll start using it again

Not only is there code but they've actually pinned version numbers in their requirements.txt! Truly an outlier ;)

I'm more interested in this for other form factors that use ARM - headsets in particular.

Fewer accounts - yes. "Carrying on" - well, maybe. But the way you've phrased it implies a bit more and you should probably clarify.

It's possible to be a reasonable, thoughtful person and disagree with aspects of what you just wrote. Personally I dislike being morally steamrollered on complex, nuanced topics.

That's a false dichotomy. There's a huge range of applications that fall between "just a demo" and "must be reliably correct". They are just harder to productize for a broad market.

It's even stranger than that. I can go from full awareness of the nature and limitations of LLMs one minute, the treating it like an almost sentient oracle the next. It's constant struggle to remain aware of what it really is und

"Computer" used to mean the job done by a human being. We chose to use the meaning to refer to machines that did similar tasks. Nobody quibbles about it any more. Words can mean more than one thing. And sometimes the new meaning i

I had no idea Twitter was doing that. That sucks. However - I find that less onerous than a paywall and HN is mostly fine about those.
