The statistic of £29bn was taken from this article https://fullfact.org/online/37-billion-test-and-trace-app-sc... I still think this is far higher than comparable countries and seems like a rip off. Any of the figures

I read grandparent comment as saying people have been claiming that the sky is falling forever… AI will be both good for learning and development and bad. It’s always up to the individual if it benefits them or atrophies their minds.

If I was the EU I'd provide capital for ASML to build a 18A fab in Europe, the way the world is going we need our own capacity here...

The secret sauce about having good understanding, taste and style (both for coding and writing) has always been in the fine tuning and RHLF steps. I'd be skeptical if the signals a few GitHub repos or blogs generate at the initial stag

The technology and vaccine design comes from BioNTech, a German company. Pfizer did the phase 2/3 clinical trials, worldwide regulatory expertise and manufacturing outside of Germany.

Thanks! I think it would be better if these types of events were fine grained and you could decide if you wanted to run them the first time but I can understand them being enabled now.

They could ask and/or parse the tests for the information rather than run them to output it. I’m honestly still not seeing a killer feature here that makes the security implications worth it!

There’s no need to run that when opening a directory is there?

Please see the reply to the other comment, obviously I wasn’t explicit enough in explaining I’m talking about code execution simply by opening a directory.

The grand parent is talking about code execution can happen by just opening the directory, you’re imagining like I did (and the grandparent) that you have to run or execute something in VSC to get that to happen and I’m asking about what fe

What is the stated reasoning for arbitrary code execution as a feature? Seems pretty mad to me.

Yeah, I need to start accepting to some degree the world has changed - in the past when I want to understand a system I'd have read the tests, but with AI I can just ask cursor to explain what the code is doing and it's fairly goo

Could Postgres provide a mechanism where delete works as you'd expect but you can add WITH DELETED keyword to a SELECT and it returns everything even deleted records? I guess migrations are still an issue if you want to change the stru

I honestly find AI quite poor at writing good well thought through tests, potentially because: 1. writing testable code is part of writing good tests 2. testing is actually poorly done in all the training data because humans are also bad at

The point of taxing goods made elsewhere is to make building equivalent goods in your local economy competitive for locals to purchase. I am pretty sure they are not putting a tax on EUV Lithography machines from ASML or at least you can ha

I keep thinking that the lack of children’s faces in the blacked out rectangles make the files much less shocking. I wonder if AI could put back fake images to make clearer to people how sick all this is.
