One of the conditions Iran has placed on ships travelling through the strait of Hormuz is that the oil is traded/purchased in RMB.

If only Hollywood had have let Trump be in more films than Home Alone 2, none of this would have happened!

If you could design a perfect plan to destroy the United States, Donald Trump, probably through sheer buffoonish incompetence seems to be implementing it.

There’s every chance that the US loses the trust of the GCC countries and they choose to spend their oil money away from the US should all of this madness ever calm down.

Almost certainly but most people don’t find it as enjoyable. Also the problem of keeping the bath hot enough for 20-30 mins.

I have read the book, I didn’t mind her conscience surfacing at all. I’m not sure I’d want to go up against an organisation like Meta, and having first hand accounts of how these people love money and power more than they do values and peop

So you should never be allowed to comment on the behaviour of companies you worked for?

Everyone thinks they are right, but it’s having the grace to be able learn, be wrong and develop is the point here! Also your average HN commenter does not get listened to or promoted anywhere to the same degree!

Don't do squash commits, just rebase -i your branch before merging so you only have one commit. It's pretty trivial to do.

I completely agree, since doing rebase our history looks fantastic and it makes finding things, cherrypicking and generating changelogs really simple. Why not be neat, it's cost us nothing and you can make yourself a tutorial on Claude

Usually I like Apple’s OS updates but Tahoe is absolutely awful from the glass to the noddy sizing of everything. MacOS does not have to harmonise with VisionOS at all and it’s been a disaster for macOS to try.

I’ve seen this in other “follow the leader” businesses too, they are not looking to even have working features, just parity on a spreadsheet with the market leader… I’m looking at you Gitlab.

It’s not even the largest part, just prefill so I think maybe M5 Max is 30% faster overall. Still pretty good I think but the 4x nonsense is just marketing!

Is it correct that there's zero improvement in performance between M4 (+Pro/Max) and M5 (+Pro/Max) the data looks identical. Also the memory does not seem to improve performance on larger models when I thought it would have?

All vigilantism has issues. For example, if I was ever to do something horrific online I’d probably hack someone unrelated to me first and tunnel through their computer and online presence to make sure if I got caught it would not blowback

How much better is an LLM at mass surveillance? Obviously RAG with everyone’s details in it is useful but it’s also likely prone to hallucinations. I’m not sure LLMs are the right AI for even finding patterns in such data. As for letting LL
