It can run larger models quite slowly but lacks matmul acceleration (included in the M5) that is very useful for context and prompt performance at inference time. I will probably burn my budget with an M5 Max with 256gb (maybe even 512gb) m

Yes the M4 Base has 120 GB/s, Pro 273 GB/s and Max has 546 GB/s... That means M5 Pro is potentially around 348 GB/s and M5 Max is almost at 700 GB/s - for comparison a 4090 has around 1,000 GB/s. So pretty incr

Wow this looks incredible! I quite like the Overcast model where you can optionally pay a little just to support the author rather than for extra features or nagware.

So we’re talking about refining rare earths which we know how to do for decades. But good try.

I dunno they built out fracking pretty quickly to become one of the worlds biggest oil producers, no reason why they couldn’t if willing to destroy the environment like China is.

Someone said once that everything you farm out to others when old you’ll lose so while these robots might seem kind and helpful a lot of people are better off looking after themselves as best they can for as long as they can.

I’m saying these purchases are designed to increase the hype cycle and are not based on new investments but mutual round robin investments where Open AI buy graphic cards and AMD stock with pretend future valuations of the company based on

This kind of behaviour should be completely illegal, it’s obvious what these people are doing and it might kickstart the biggest depression in history. It’s basically a ponzi scheme. Next probably ARM and Apple (separately) will do some kin

Oh, am I autistic then? :-| Honestly I think everyone feels like this to some degree and most people are hiding their contempt for the structures at work.

So given their history I suspect much like Twitter, TikTok US will push right wing propaganda and become a platform for MAGA. I’m still interested if TikTok users in the EU will be able consume US content and vice versa.

It’s a perfectly good choice, most of the complaints here are exaggerated. If your inventory has SKUs use those externally/for links and for API lookups if possible.

I really don’t think using primary keys publicly is ever good, just because UUID4 has allowed people to smash junk into the URL doesn’t mean it’s good for the web or the users over a slug or a cleaner ID.

There’s every chance the API has timestamps on when it was inserted. Honestly I’d rather my data was ordered correctly than imagining the extremely rare situations that leaking the insert time is going to bring the world falling down. You u

The rest of the ID will be random enough that guessing it will take an extremely long time, unless all the tanks were inserted in the same microsecond of course. I’m not sure this is a security issue with UUID though!

So basically devalues TikTok worldwide and TikTok US, presumably a UK/EU user won’t be seen in the US and vice versa? The EU is already preparing a fine I’m sure… such an incredibly strange deal IMO, I can’t work out why anyone would d

Honestly, I did not know Salesforce had bought Slack. I would encourage everyone here to avoid that company - their business model seems to be create a spiderweb of critical touch points within an organisation and its data then suddenly hik

Could you train a model to do this? I’m skeptical you’d actually get what you’re after particularly easily and more likely you’d just degrade the performance of the whole model. Training on good data gets you better understanding and perfor

It's tragic that the patent system, that is meant to make sharing IP better, actually is used to extract rents from the everyone... Software patents much like maths should clearly be illegal.

I honestly thing they just styled it out as "more efficient" and their investors lapped it up. We've really not seen improvement since GPT4 for most things I do with is and it feels like a downgrade on o3-mini-high to me.

So they aren’t saying what the bug was that caused this issue? Would love a more detailed explanation, what could possibly cause the model degradation apart from potentially pointing the queries to the wrong model?

Would love it if camera manufacturers were forced to open source their firmware after say 5 years of a camera’s release. The longevity of devices would be vastly improved. In fact make this all devices with firmware, printers, streamers etc
