I’m intrigued. I think I understand what you’re saying but I’ve never seen it framed like this. > there is a price for prizing experience so highly Is there somewhere I can read more about this?

> Food is a solved problem in the modern era. Solved problem? We've hardly even identified the actual problem. As it it stands now farming is an open loop system and input supplies are becoming constrained and expensive. We have kil

Gabe Brown goes a step further than a simple no-till philosophy. He promotes a very dense grazing of cows as well as cover crops which do bring fertilizer back to the soil. This is the most relevant quote I could find on his website. I can

Is there a public roadmap anywhere? I'd love to see what other services SourceHut plans to offer. I'd love to see a paid email service from a company with an open source ethos.

Wow, I did not know this and am honestly a bit emotional finding this out. Those quarries were iconic and a magical way to spend an evening at a time in my life when I felt absolutely free, for better or worse. On the bright side, Bloomingt

> Regenerative ag will not make you rich… How do you figure? Regenerative ag is still relatively new, and it’s practices are being honed. Idk what you define as rich but I’d venture to guess that Joel Salatin and Gabe Brown are extremely

I don’t think the yield downside is a given though. Gabe Brown sees >20% more yield than his counties average using regenerative methods. I want to see more data but I’m hopeful that as regenerative ag practices begin to be improved and

His book, Dirt To Soil, is what convinced me. It was the first time in a while that I felt optimism about the future of the planet. It also changed how I viewed the morals of meat consumption.

I think these numbers are from the more traditional way of farming. At least one practitioner of regenerative agriculture, Gabe Brown, uses super dense grazing and frequent movement of the cattle to actually restore his soil health. http:&

Do you have sources for this? I used to think similarly, but now I’m not so sure. Gabe Brown, the author of Dirt to Soil, changed my outlook on animals place in a healthy ecosystem. On his farmland he puts about 700k lbs of cattle on 1acre

Fun fact - the quarry in the movie is real and in fact a local swimming hole. Over the years though they’ve really been cracking down on trespassing.

I don’t think it’s mentioned explicitly anywhere, but Bloomington Indiana is a college town and Indiana University has sought after computer science, informatics, business and public affairs programs. I don’t know that this is the case, but

I doubt there would be a super surge of reporting for this collapse either if we weren’t looking at a 100 person death count. I hadn’t heard of any New York buildings collapsing so I googled and found one building under construction that co

Gabe Brown uses 700k pounds of cattle per acre, but he moves the cattle daily. On his site, he claims the pastures are 15-40 acres. [1] So I presume 700k pounds of cattle per 40 acres would give you the figure you're looking for. [1]:

I used to feel similarly, but now, I'm not so sure. What worries me is that lab-grown meat will allow big ag practices to continue, which will do more harm to our co2 emissions and world's soil health. To expand on this further, t

Curious, why "super healthy"? Not that I doubt the statement, but I think it's interesting that something that I view as nutritionally insignificant is viewed that way by someone else. Then again I'm not a nutritionist o

The potential flip side of this is why aren't visa workers being paid market value. Are they held back so much by employer's biases that they can't reliably compete for a fair salary on the open market?
