I don't buy into Vue being easier to learn than React. This year I picked up and started learning React after some experience with vanilla JS and jquery. I first tried Vue and for whatever reason, non-trivial examples were so hard to w

I build all my mobile layouts with flexbox, so they are usually one long column, and content collapses into the grid from CSS media queries. If the browser doesn't support css grid, the mobile, single column version with flexbox is ful

Use CSS grid with Flexbox for fallback. I create my mobile version of pages with Flexbox, so if the user's browser doesn't support it, they see the full featured mobile view. Progressive enhancement.

To be fair, even on small sites I have written, Privacy Policies can get truly huge due to the boilerplate. Most of my sites have Google Analytics that gets disabled when DNT is turned on. That plus server logs for fail2ban and DoS protecti

The aversion is mostly that a lot of devs have learned to use html, css, and js for styling ui's. I love Kivy as well as QT. You can make some decent looking apps with the former and some incredible ones with the later. I have never pe

900k is almost chump change in the world of aerospace, sats, and space tech. This isn't a deterrant, it can be framed as the cost of doing business. The fine is far too small.

Hey, I know where that's coming from! Awhile ago I was digging through Pinterest on topics related to blogging, finance, online business, etc. A lot of these pins target millennials and moms (wow, especially moms). The point of most of

I really like this article but I struggle with implementing it now. I've learned a lot of React recently for creating sites. I test all pages that can be static with javscript disabled, (I use gatsby or next for html ssr), but some par

For one and two: in what world is any of the software in repos like apt or yum up to date? Every time I set up an ubuntu machine for using at work, I end up compiling a few packages from source, a myriad of packages that are installed from

I can't tell if this article is satire or not. I played a lot of Mincraft as a teen and I have nothing but good things to say about the game. It's very relaxing, you can be creative and explore and build, plus there's a whole

I checked Figma out before, afaik it doesn't let me locally save my files and work on them without Internet on Linux. Is that still the case now?

I'm absolutely happy people are taking on Illustrator/XD. I was a freelance illustrator specializing in print while in college, and have grown dislike Illustrator. The issues I'm having now with most design and vector art too

To be fair data collection is a really important skill as well, but hardly counts as ML/AI imo. For me it feels more like "software plumber".

True! But Google incorporates more microdata from AMP pages in Search results (as in more fields), or at the least their Rich Search Results documentation makes it out to be that way. I may be wrong, this just was my understanding from read

Your opinion here is totally valid. Npm has a lot more magic involved than doing stuff by hand with virtualenv. And yes, aliases and bash scripts help a lot, but do increase initial overhead. I have the entire "delete create install&qu

I agree on AMP, you can just pack less JS and be done with it. But AMP is REALLY about rich search results online. Google creates more interactive search results for AMP pages than non-AMP versions. As for PWA's, I'm honestly a fa

Why isn't more research and research materials open source in the AI world? I don't really understand. If one doesn't have your training dataset or your code, how could they possibly replicate your results?
