Sure, MongoDB does manage files but for the email app this is behind an abstraction and possibly in a different machine. I was more referring to maildir/mbox where the email server has to write and read files while juggling with user&#

Issues with large (as in message count) mailboxes is a common thing nowadays. Don't know about client side as I've been working on the server side for past few years (see https://wildduck.email/ ). Clients with lar

Lots of interesting things happening in email development recently. I would compare it with ZoneMTA that is a component in WildDuck, a full featured email server written in plain node.js ( https://wildduck.email )

Mailcast is supposed to be simpler than usual newsletter software (there are no advanced marketing features) and it is self contained (no need to integrate with a MTA server or service). It can be used with large lists but it is not suppose

I am using TOML in most of my projects and once the configuration files grew too large I just extended the syntax with “#@include filepath” declarations and split up the config files. Works great. https://github.com/nodemail

Very cool! In WildDuck IMAP server I use a bit different deduplication method (I deduplicate decoded attachments, not lines) that does not give 90% reduction but still more than 50%: https://github.com/nodemailer/wilddu

Oh yes it is, we have around 200k users and fighting with old leaked passwords is like a full time job. Very easy to abuse as well, the attackers can make low frequency requests from scattered IPs and thus are almost impoasible to prevent

I guess the project is too new and it is hard to stand out amongst other players that have been around for 20 years by now. Even though not having been around so long has advantages as well, for example it allows skipping non-needed feature

In the age of password leaks it is really common that email accounts are easy targets and get hijacked – most users are probably still using the same password for their email as they used for LinkedIn in 2012. So it might happen from time t

Nice, thanks! Our average message size is about 200kB (and total of 30-40TB). No wonder though as anything from Mailchimp is 300kB nowadays.

Redundancy requirement was one of the reasons I started building WildDuck mail server. It can be set up with no-spof components, everything can be replicated. https://github.com/nodemailer/wildduck#no-spof-architecture

Oh, btw, the easiest way to test ZoneMTA would probably be to install the WildDuck mail server to some empty VPS. The install script, amongst other things, installs and configures ZoneMTA https://github.com/nodemailer/w

Would you be able to share some stats, like how much disk space these accounts take up and such? For larger scale e-mail sending I built my own MTA ( https://github.com/zone-eu/zone-mta ), our main instance sends about 7
