Maker Faire has a really special place in my heart. In 2011 I ran the iFixit booth where we not only ran phone repair workshops, but we also did a teardown of a car...live. A volunteer was kind enough to lend us his VW Golf, which he was al

Yeah. It was really rough to see how Maker Faire declined as time went on. I attended from 2009-2015 and corporate sponsored space consistently grew every year. The venue never got bigger, it just pushed out...makers.

Spinlaunch is a joke. No payload is built to withstand those kinds of forces during a launch and the added weight to reinforce them to do so makes it uneconomical. They are even offering to pay companies the extra cost to reinforce their pa

It's real. Or at least Elon says it is. He's been talking about this for days and retweeted the thread.

That's not at all what the shared responsibility model means...You are responsible for your application's security, not of the underlying infrastructure. That's why it is shared ...

Bonus points if your link to customer care auto-populates the fields necessary to get the ticket where it needs to go and can attach relevant diagnostic information to the resulting ticket.

Super excited to see an open source implementation of this! I built a similar service for AWS back around 2015 to do web-based pixel streaming applications. That service's legacy still lives on today in many descendants, but I was alwa

No no no no no. This is not true. Google Workspace is FedRAMP compliant for government customers . It is NOT possible to configure Google Workspace in a FedRAMP compliant way as a regular customer. You can't even get NIST 800-171 on G

So the Army uses it but if you're a government contractor you can't use it because you can't get a NIST 800-53 or CMMC compliant configuration on Workspace... Before anyone tells me that Workspace is FedRAMP compliant: Yes, I

Hah, I just replied to your comment as well. I appreciate that you pointed out that this isn't a problem unique to YC. At some point, people are just chasing prestige. Considering YCs rapid growth over the last few years, I'm not

100% agreed. I think it speaks MUCH more to the conviction of founders to apply a few times and then get in on a similar, refined idea. Then your lessons learned come off more as what you've learned about building a successful business

I think part of it is that the incentives have changed. A lot of people don't see Google as "I've made it" they see it as "great, I can work anywhere I want after this." I think we're starting to see that

This story just really doesn't read like the triumph of will it was meant to be... My takeaway from this is that the founders wanted to get into YC. The business doesn't matter, they just wanted to be in YC. The business morphed a

I beg of you, please reconsider the SSO tax ( https://sso.tax/ ). This is becoming a big pain point for small orgs trying to become compliant that a small change like this can be huge in decision making. If I look at Pipedrea

AMP no longer gets preferential treatment in search results as of mid-2021, which is the primary reason most publishers implemented it. I haven't seen many AMP pages since then. https://developers.google.com/search/

That's true. You could still do IAM role authentication via web identity which would be much safer than a user and could still be automated.

At a minimum, you should include enabling MFA for the IAM user. Generally, I'd suggest against using IAM users entirely. Ideally you would use an IAM Role via federation or SSO. For my personal accounts I use AWS SSO even though I'

You are correct, S3 lifecycle policies support deleting non-current object versions once they're X days old as well as X versions old: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/userguide/lifecy...
