There is a javascript engine written in Go called otto so you could use that for plugins. That way people can write plugins with many languages if they wish. i.e. clojurescript, typescript ,dart, etc etc

If someone has unrestricted access to your PC webcam, they probably have unrestricted access to all of your PC. You already will be keylogged, and risk losing usernames and passwords. This is already probably a lot worse than a few photos o

I'm aware, I care because LLVM is being integrated in web browsers as part of the JIT engine, and clang uses LLVM as its backend. So any segfaults related to LLVM (though not this one in particular) make me worried about browser securi

I guess I was being to harsh on the memory issues in C++. In practice it is a non issue, because build scripts can run arbitrary code long before a memory corruption in the system compiler. And if you plan on running the code you just compi

I agree for tree manipulation - I don't necessarily agree for writing recursive descent parsers. But I admit, I read the Ocaml and haskell compilers source code, and it was pretty nice.

Go is pretty nice for parser/compiler applications because it is fast and the runtime doesn't take too long to startup.

I always wanted proof of work to be computation power which is saved up over time, which can be spent as computation bursts on a network, or sold. Perhaps using pnacl binaries to to the computations. Rather than waste CPU power on mindless

I was partially referring to LLVM segfaulting sometimes on bad input, but its correct to say even without segfaults in the compiler itself, just generating incorrect code via any other bug could cause the same issues. LLVM is interesting in

Unfortunately I think the increased complexity in javascript engines is also a security risk. Fuzzing and other techniques may be able to cause all sorts of crashes and memory corruptions in the jit compilers code or in the generated code.

Well, Rust uses llvm, so unless rustc is generating really poor intermediate code, its performance will be the same as clang C/C++.

To be honest, this article is fairly laughable. Swift is vendor locked to the extreme, has a buggy closed source implementation and is no more revolutionary than any other modern language coming out. It's only a thing for apple develop
