I have a few extensions, notably an update to subtle-brackets, which I cross-published. It's relatively painless - Eclipse running Open VSX is clunky, but no more clunky and UX-weird than the marketplace (which holy shit, talk about te

I gave this an earnest try over the course of a few months. There were notable bugs in nearly all of the extensions I needed to use for work. It's known that Microsoft ships custom builds of the open source portion of VS Code, and ther

The way that VS Code is spreading, and the stranglehold Microsoft has on development and direction of the product, give me very strong IE4/5/6 vibes. I really hope some of the open source alternatives that aren't corporation-

sibling comments are asking questions about antitrust and EU regulations - truly interesting, and far beyond the shallow vitriol being spewed over and over again as if it's an original thought.

In Michigan we'd use a potato gun (for the noise) to scare them off, as well as very low velocity bb guns (hit the foot of one, they alarm and the flock leaves). The ultimate device to keep those poop machines away was my Australian Sh

If you spend time in their issues, or try to contribute via issues, a pattern emerges; Microsoft as a corp entity has an iron grip on the development and progress. It's open source only in that you can fork freely. UX and DX improvemen

I have the same sorts of gripes with VS Code; stubbornness from the people running the project at MS and refusal to listen to the userbase. It seems to be a pervasive trait at MS.

Agreed, but that would require acting parties within Twitter to claim they were coerced or forced to act. Knowing who the acting parties were, that's highly unlikely. So I don't think the counter-argument holds much water.
