That's the general approach Deno has gone with. it's finding success.

Agreed. The guy just wanted to make something he felt was better. I've never seen a mission statement that said the goals were to replace Node. It's a separate beast.

Not really. Know your history first. Node split to io.js due to team disagreements and fragmentation. io.js made an immense amount of progress, adopted semver, and had all the momentum. At the time, Node was stagnant. The choice to merge wa

several folks in the threads here have posted references to the contrary. perhaps you have data which disagrees, or you may be operating on observations from your own circles.

Health care, logistics, law, finance, retail - there are a number of major industries that all still use Windows as primary. I have a good friend working in tech for Walmart, and another for a major hedge fund; both are Windows shops. It&#x

Competition yields innovation and/or standardization. While it can also fragment, ultimately competition, even friendly or "alternative" varieties, in software usually ends up benefiting the ecosystem in the long run.

Svelte was a curious omission, given its excellent performance and simplicity. Edit: Ah, Svelte is supported, just omitted from the HN title: https://github.com/tauri-apps/tauri/blob/dev/tooling/cli&

Disabling it on a repository is one of the first things I do. I tend not to like how noisy it is on Node project. Instead, I have scheduled tasks which audit periodically.

This sounds like a Software Architect role. Is that correct?

I see "systems design" tossed around a lot these days, and the phrase is taking on multiple meanings. What's the context here for this use?

Had me right up until the last paragraph. One does not have to be a colonialist or carry bias to have misconceptions about the midevil period. Ignorance is a fine reason. I myself am a huge fan of history but mostly ignorant about that time

I have two Nest-E devices in the home and have not enabled Google login. If you can find the older versions of the thermostats, you can factory reset them, stick them on a guest network without internal access, and never use the Google logi

Ditto. Sometimes stuff reaches a point where it's mature or stable and doesn't need more development. Sometimes life gets in the way and years down the road someone stops in to pick up the torch. That's open source.

The old guard like Leo are still resisting the new truth backed by stats. As of Q2, mobile represented nearly 60% of web traffic [1]. You don't need to develop sites with mobile compatibility, but it'd be foolish not to. 1. https
