I really hate this. My MBA gets to sleep again before I can type my login password, so I have to press something (usually arrow) to keep it awake till UI responds. If I type the password before UI responds, then there is a good chance that

I have only used it on iPhone 5 without any problem, so I am not sure what you mean here. I only use it for a few seconds to read the number and do not really understand how retina graphics would help you.

What do you think about the Battlefield series? As for me, I like it most of all multiplayer shooters. Even the original BF 1942 is quite fun to play.
