Could you explain how this affects your view of the reflections in the article? I found the article held some bittersweet sentiments on what it was like to have (a good deal of) money. To the point of the title he spoke of a false sense of

As I understand it, that is about it. And for that exact reason it bugs me that they call it fork /join.

At what margin? There's more revenue in gaming than engine licensing, but once you have the engine, I can't imagine it costing much to license it.

Valve don't release pricing information for the Source Engine, but they say it's competitive[1]. One of their competitors is id, who charge $250k plus 5% of wholesale[2] for id Tech 3. I'd say it's probably nice side income. Epic charge $35

It really would, but last I heard they'd decided on (and implemented) hg as their DVCS on the serverside. Fortunately, "clientside" git integrates with more serverside VCSes than any other system I'm aware of :)

Presumably in the context of web development, this means familiarity with browsers as deployment platforms (quirks etc).

Would you care to elaborate? I'm just getting to grips with Google Apps and would be interested in what experiences others have had with it.

This is a gross simplification. You're simply correlating Facebook's value to their number of users, which is taking two indirectly related numbers and putting them up against eachother. Even your metaphor of the house is flawed; the house

Is it just me or are people blowing that "$50b" valuation of facebook out of proportion? And applying P/E * Profit to other companies doesn't really seem like an interesting metric, especially when comparing it to well-established companies

I've used clickatell (which costs money) to do this. The API is fairly simple, they're pretty stable and they can send to most places in the world.

It used to be possible to require both password and pubkey authentication (which is a form of two-factor authentication). Unfortunately this was discontinued in newer versions of OpennSSH (I have no idea why).

I'm in geeklove with the MB(P) 13" line. I recommend it heartily to anyone willing to listen. I moved away from a (dated) 15" Dell laptop to a 13" MBP for my primary work machine about half a year ago, and these are my experiences: * I miss

I'd like something that plugs into dvc-mode, but after my last foray with that I've pretty much given up on doing my git stuff from any interface that isn't the CLI. Do any of these do decent integration with git-svn?

Yes, but it's not turtles all the way down. Useful libraries written in other languages (C in this case) can benefit the platform (Ruby). The most common case for this is for speed benefits, but there are other possible goals as well. To pa
