Thanks to Mashable for bringing some sense in the April Fools stupidity. I like the idea of the day, but if it's not really really funny don't do it. Notably, "company X buys company Y" is dull. Doubly so if X == Google.

That's only half of the job. They still don't offer a way to "delist" yourself from GS. Customers will still think GS is providing support for 37Signals and will be disappointed. Even if the badge says it is not an official site many people

That's nonsense. I know at least 50 people with 1400+ SATs (on a 1600 scale) and only one of them is really into classical. That statistic is wrong on so many levels. In particular, SAT scores correlate to the level of education, which corr

Pretty cool. Back in 2004 I built about the same thing. It accepted requests from IRC and a web site and streamed MP3s through Icecast (YouTube did not exist). I remember spending several days to build a smart algorithm to pick songs when t

As much as I like DropBox, you have to take dl.getdropbox.com out of the equation to get an accurate comparison, because dl is used for sharing files with third parties and even hosting files on the web.

The SAT is a little over 2 digits, too. First, you can never get a 755 or something - it always ends in a 0. Then, you can't get less than 400 and more than 1600. So it's 1-120, again.

About time. We had quite a few discussions with the registrar in my university about the benefit of converting a numeric grade to a letter grade (round to the neared quarter), which would then be converted back to numeric to compute the GPA

So the next desktop will be effectively single threaded, without the ability to show two windows at the same time? Seriously, a modern webbrowser is already a more powerful platform than the iPhone. That's why Palm is using WebKit...

Nonsense. Once the developer accepts a $2500 offer he is obliged to do his part of the deal. Not to mention that $2500 can be a lot of money for a lot of people. The 10% share of profits is a sign of good will on behalf of OP. It was not pa

To answer your question, Java is very easy to reverse engineer. Google for a decompiler. Several years ago I would get an almost perfect copy of the original source, with the proper variable names, etc. The only thing missing were comments

I used to hate MBTA until I moved to London. The system is much more poorly maintained here, and the fact that it's bigger is no excuse. Only in London will you hear an announcement like "All lines except the Northern line are operating wit
