We need a two-way jobs section IMHO. Companies could offer jobs and hackers can announce their availability. Two-way markets are usually more efficient. OP, I find your post disenginous. You could say it's the best thing ever if you were to

Both Flickr and PHP5 appeared in 2004. For one of the biggest PHP sites in the world, I'd imagine they'd upgrade sooner.

Word on the street is that someone has acquired a top secret CIP device and has reconfigured the subcircuit board to connect to the FAA subchannel. Jack Bauer is on the case.

Off topic, but I love Jason Santa Maria's blog. Every post is not only interesting in its content, but is a design exercise in its own! It's a pleasure to browse the site even if you don't read the posts.

Mosso offers S3-like storage with free CDN, and Slicehost is now part of the Mosso family, so it's kosher.

Whatever the case, it would be significantly easier to correct GCC's shortcomings instead of starting afresh (and facing all those shortcomings, and others, again).

The Wufoo guys seem great all around - business approach, design, technology (their PHP profiler from today), and customer service. I egotistically wish their main product was different, because I want to use what they make, yet I don't nee

I think this should've been implemented as a compile-time C# extension, similar to LINQ. The addition of a new language makes things confusing. You write your code in C#, then you have to rewrite some in Axum? Then you have to connect them?

SQL was invented in the 70s for business analysts to write reports without having to go bug the programmers. So what? Unix was invented in the 70s because Ken Thompson wanted to play Space Travel. [1] Queries are not composa

One smart thing Oracle could do is make their database talk the MySQL protocol and SQL dialect. They already support pretty much all of MySQL's features, so offering an instant upgrade path might get them a lot of business. A cheaper Web ed

Oracle owns InnoDB and Sleepycat/BerkeleyDB, both of which are in active development. InnoDB is also MySQL's most popular storage engine. So I wouldn't fear for MySQL's future. It wasn't doing well in Sun anyways.
