The LLM passes my test if it calls out the ambiguity or just goes with it and responds with a 3-crossings solution. It passes if it doesn't just plainly ignore this one sentence. It's such a strong test in my opinion, because all

Here in Europe employees turn off their company devices after work. Getting called-in in your time off usually happens not more than once every few months. You're not supposed to check your messages in your time off. But it still feels

I have the feeling this goes much deeper than knowledge work and AI. I see it in many places that people seem to not take their job serious anymore. The incentive seems to be gone. Also their managers don't seem to care anymore, as the

It would be quite ironic if this technology would render all those AI data centers practically useless. If the next step are just a much smaller amount of expensive chips, and the bottleneck becomes manufacturing those chips fast. Not buil

With thousands of token per second output it would be an enormous waste of resources. Such chips are clearly made to process thousands of conversations simultaneously. Not necessarily in parallel. All LLM workflows are turn based right now,

It failed on my usual test. But it failed really fast: "A farmer has a wolf, a goat, and a cabbage. The wolf is imaginary and doesn't exist. He wants to cross the river, but the boat is only big enough to hold him and one of them.

I think motorsports is going to fade away over time. Especially in car racing the technology got so advanced, that it's starting to get more and more boring. If/When self driving cars become widely available, it might start to fee

This doesn't look like it can control the AC unit via infrared. How did you solve that part?

OT: I'm looking for some way to control my AC via Infrared. I have a few pretty standard AC units with IR remotes. The ones with a display on it, that just transmit all the settings on the remote via IR on every button press. Some devi

At some point the "money people" are going to stop setting huge piles of money on fire. Big tech can finance a lot of AI investments themselves, but they can't keep up the current investments just by themselves, without compr

Actions are much more interesting than words. If the CCP didn't want Kimi K3 weights to be published, they would stay secret. Period.

China doesn't seem to think that powerful open weight models are a serious threat to them. Otherwise they wouldn't release them. Those models could also be used by their enemies against China. I'm not a fan of the Chinese pol

In most cases you should skip SIMD also for new code. Often a non-SIMD version is required for compatibility, just stick with that.

Are failing GPUs really a big issue? I don't know how they behave when they die, but if it can be detected quickly, the affected nodes can just be removed from the pool.

I'm wondering if all those GPUs ever end up on the second hand market for us to buy. Or if they will get refurbished multiple times and get used in second tier data centers until the chips die.

99% of developers should just ignore SIMD. Most projects have a lot of low hanging fruit to increase performance, and still nobody finds the time to solve them.

As an European I would laugh so hard, if China out-competes US based AI companies before the European car manufacturers. (it would be a very cynical laugh, no happiness, don't worry)

I guess the US can freely request data on any citizen. The home countries don't know if you are actually traveling into the US. Direct flights are not the only option to reach the US.

Exactly my experience. I would even draw the border at 100-150k. Long contexts would be nice, but they just don't work well, even if the models support them.

I didn't try long coding sessions for a while. I had really noticeable performance degradation with all models above 100-150k and always try to stay below those numbers.

I don't think age restriction will impact FOSS in the long term. If there are some regulations that threaten FOSS now, they are going to be adopted in the long term. Regulations for age restriction are understandable. A lot of modern t
