Conversely, I remember seeing a documentary which showed a massive room full of students in china, an absolutely massive hall, all taking some advanced exam. The stat was provided: China produces more Masters students per day, than the US p

Wait, I didn't realize 3.7 Flash was already beating Sol on a bunch of the benchmarks. Isn't it a way smaller models?

Yeah, this doesn't include older models, some of which were already saturating many common tasks a year ago. I'll often add them to the AA graph for reference.

Well done. The inability to switch between log and linear always bothered me. Another thing is if you're using the subscriptions with OpenAI or Anthropic you get an order of magnitude discount relative to the per-token price. So you ne

I'm pretty confused here. The graph implies unemployment is among the lowest it's been in decades? Is that right? Also where does the discrepancy come from? That's a huge difference (5x!) with the official stat! Is this actua

I was wondering that, when DeepSeek became so cheap a while back, if it would be suitable as a superior embedding model. Although, RAG means search and search means latency?

Firefox was slow on my computer (old Thinkpad). I tried using Degoogled Chromium but it kept crashing. So the closest thing for me (Chrome minus Google) was Brave. Vivaldi is cool (I loved Opera 20 years ago) but very laggy on my machine. (

That's pretty nice. Here's Gemini 3.7 for reference: https://simonwillison.net/2026/Aug/13/llm-gemini/ I found Gemini's one much more impressive initially, but on closer inspection it'

Jon Blow's response to this take was, "yes, which is why you have to work even harder to hide latency", instead of adding more on top.

What is it equivalent to? What kind of things are you using it for? I haven't tested it yet but on all the benchmarks it looks like it's 5-7x slower for agentic tasks.

Does ARC measure "one shot learning"? I heard that the major unsolved problem in ML was developing systems that are good at dealing with novel problems.
