As awesome as the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine is, it is still under central control. Worse, as they (reasonably) abide to robots.txt rules, the BBC could easily block access to pages they removed at their end in the archive as w

Who says that it is his laptop? The "article" does not really add anything for the HN audience. So to save you a click, here is the image: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ClfR1BDUsAEMBm2.jpg:orig

As bank transfer takes a lot of time to "process", money exchanging in Europe is really annoying. Paypal made and makes it fast. I don't like them, but I don't know anything better sadly.

I simply use keepassx with the database being synced between all my devices (Linux, Windows, Android) via Syncthing. I also have a scrambled printout in my bank safe (30€/year) that I update every couple of months.

No money is going to evaporate. First of all, the value just changes hands and second of all, there is no money involved, just toy bits.

Unless they went back and manually deleted words after their second round of hype last year, they are still in. Their wikipedia page surely has been largely written by them themselves.

Carefully vetted? I don't have the time right now but there are countless weird, insulting, offensive phrases possible with this proprietary abomination.

Nope. I listen to about 15 podcasts regularly. They are all made by people in their free time as loving hobbyists. "Content" gets made regardless if there is money exchanged for annoying/misleading your audience.

As far as I understand it there was no decision made by Nick except when the organisers intervened. The lightning talks always were chaotic. Nick wrote that the more risky presenters usually did not show anyways, at least that's how I
