Most people who use vim don't use it as an exercise in minimalism we're often caricatured as constantly undergoing. How do you know that?

LaTeX is more difficult than word by a single aspect: the compilation step. That's a bold statement that's backed up by no facts and makes no sense. If you were just to stop and think for a second, I bet you'd see how ridiculous it is. La

LaTeX is not much easier to use than Word; it's incredibly more difficult to use. It requires you to remember or look up a bewildering number of strange-looking commands, a special syntax, etc.

I'm sympathetic to your overall argument, but not to this specific example. It's very much in US interests to know that someone else knows the launch codes. The consequences of having them made public (a public scandal, the cost of changing

I applaud the effort, yet deplore the writing. I looked at the first few pages and was dismayed. This isn't a book I would recommend to anyone with no knowledge of graph theory who needs to pick it up. The authors make no effort to connect

I don't understand. Why not start with caching, then do all those things you mentioned when the site bogs down again? It'll be after all the same queries, the same rendering etc. post-cache; the same technique to improve them will work in t

No, the requirement is specifically to use just ANDs, ORs and two NOTs. There is a solution, I did find it. It's not particularly easy to find.

Most of these examples are either naturally graphs already, or on the contrary, can be presented as graphs through ingenious reductions (e.g. coloring as an approach to register optimization). So transforming the domain problem to a graph t

You forgot to sign with "peace and love". Although maybe that's because it's been ringing hollow lately... might I suggest that you also add "xoxo" to your signature? Maybe that'll win people over.

I agree that it's much more likely for a math geek to develop serious knowledge of lit-crit than it is for a lit-crit type to develop serious knowledge of math. That's the something that there is to what you're saying. However, being that e

I don't really like where you're going with this. For every lit-crit type who'll never understand what quaternions are, I'll find you a math geek with a shelf full of Star Trek novels, who'll never understand what real literature is. (I onc

I read this argument before, in a paper by the author I think. I thought it was nonsense then and this article doesn't change my opinion about it. The purported explanations are really unconvincing, the analogies very strained.
