The weirdest part for me is that there is no reliable way to tell if the crossing street also has a stop sign (at least in CA). After 5 years of living in the US I still get annoyed about it.

ISTM the fairly obvious approach would be to bring up a complete copy of the affected database(s) and move the affected tenants to that "copy", while eventually deleting non-affected tenants. Can't imagine they don't hav

The move to renewables in Germany slowed down drastically since the mid 2010s. Largely due to bad policy, not cost development. In German, but look e.g. at the third graph in https://www.wind-energie.de/themen/zahlen-un

When I read the title, I was assuming it was going to be about worsened code generation when building with exception support. Not about, basically, throwing exceptions as fast as possible. That seems an odd concern given the current perform

Is it really the distributed aspect? Or "just" working on a above average complicated project for many years? The consequences of bugs in many distributed systems (and several other types of systems) are IME often harder to bear t

I twice got things as part of an Amazon order what I didn't order. It took hours, and speaking so several supervisors to get them to take back the extra stuff, and that no, I wouldn't "just keep" large metal pipes.

That's within the feasible distance for a point to point wireless bridge. If geography permits - which is not that likely. Not cheap, but might be better than alternatives.

The criticality score in the referenced post about critical projects [1], the resulting projects [2] and the the "combined" list of various other sources of critical projects [3][4] all don't seem particularly on-point to me.

Perf c2c is extremely useful. Especially when using it with call graphs. Seeing which call stack interacts how with a cache line can make it a lot easier to find solutions to contended cache lines.

IME icache misses are a frequent bottleneck. There's plenty code where all the time is spent in one tight inner loop and thus the icache is not a constraint, but there's also a lot of cases with a much flatter profile. Where icach

FWIW, a good chunk of the snapshot scalability changes are in PG 14, so the situation has gone a bit further towards s/processes/threads/ being the primary bottleneck. It depends quite a bit on whether you're write-mostl

I do not get why it's a good idea for a connection pooler to go for a process model. The whole "isolation and stability" argument is doubtful for postgres itself, but it's imo pretty much nonsensical for a pooler.
