I remember a story about a Swedish manager accepting job applications for software developers in 2003. Typically permanent job postings would get hundreds of applicants back then. In any case, this busy manager had 200 unread applications

Yes we are supporting both Linux and Windows. And Linux definitely has been better behaved. Still it hasn't been too bad under windows. It's just when we want to do something like support foreign characters then we run into trouble.

Good point. And actually from another post in this thread it sounds like it is more than a patent/algorithm, it is a painstakingly built system. So yes perhap they have something. We will see. As for you comment about researchers not being

Yes it was my impression that it aimed at the open domain. BTW are you doing any dialogue modeling? The reason why I asked about closed domain work is because that's what I am working on. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWio8bHq4wQ

I assume its the linux build because we are having a devil of a time getting full ISO-8859-1 encodings to work under windows. But perhaps that's because I want to support Swedish characters. Maybe I should kill that requirement. In any cas

Thanks and sorry about the public grousing to get myself invited :-). I understand that you guys are taking on a profound and very important challenge. And I am very much wishing the venture success. I think that NLIs eventually will become

Honestly it may be somewhat heretical to say it, but I doubt very seriously that an old Xerox patent really has so much relevance. The academic community has been working with semantic indexes for quite some time. I know many of those invo

Absolutely! I just looked at your website and I think there is an area of possible collaboration. Let me study it a bit more. But a quick question, to what extent are you using relational databases to represent base level facts in your syst

Well I will tell you that it was quite an effort. There are lots of moving parts under the hood - a theorem prover, search mechanisms, spell checker, etc. It took several years to get it to the current beta. The nice thing I have tenure as

Oh an another thing, I was very polite and considered when I requested to be a member of their power labs. And four weeks on now and no response. I consider that to be a bad sign.

Yes I too am skeptical. I work in the area of natural language interfaces and when I hear their claims I cringe. My own feeling is that NLIs can be useful, but really only in closed domains. In fact my own efforts are toward NLIs to relati

Hi Rob, We are building a natural language interface to databases tool. I figure that forms, key-word and hyper-link interfaces have their limitations. Our orientation is mostly scientific/technical, but we figure that if we can deliver

Really, I though I read/was told that you guys switched over to a commercial LISP when you delivered. Hmm. Nice. Did they ask you if you extended it any way? Also out of curiousity did you run it as an executable image in the production ve

Who is Paul Graham? Just kidding :-). Actually I wonder if I will win any points for developing my system on the CLISP platform. BTW does anyone know why Paul didn't end up using CLISP for Viaweb?
