I think: You’re not catching covid in situations where you’d typically wear a mask (regardless of masking), rather where you typical don’t wear a mask, like from family member. I’m not really saying I agree, but I think that is the context.

This is not true. The prevailing opinion is that backups do not need to be modified and that it’s enough to delete at restore time (and to of course not process the data again).

More like: uber has two contracts, one between the themselves and the driver and one between themselves and the rider. If a driver is refusing rides based on race, then that is Uber’s problem. If they then want to pursue legal action agains

If the solution to homebrews handling of major versions is to not use homebrew, I think it indicates there are issues. I think it should work like almost Linux distros where the major version is fixed for a release lifecycle, and any other

You don’t have to use the exclusion, and in a lot of cases it’s not really beneficial. The other option is to pay the difference in taxes, so if you were taxed at 50% in the country of residence, and the tax bill in the US would have been 4

Azure has absolutely the worst interface in my opinion, but I’ve found that for a lot of my clients them already having an azure account (via AD) outweighs pretty much anything else. I think Microsoft know this and know they come a long way

I don’t think the only factor considered is whether or not something is PII, rather even the intent is considered. If you were storing IP addresses to track and market to users, you need consent. If you’re using them for logging and securit

Wasn’t Parler take down reactively, as a response to the users’ behavior and content on the site? That seems different (and significantly easier to justify) than blanket bans based on some algorithmic analysis of an app’s name. Sort the dif

Wikimedia also has less incentive/drive to meticulously track every interaction on their pages. The level of tracking present on Facebook and Google has to be extremely computationally intensive.

To expand on king_magic’s point, this isn’t a case of a small service having a sudden spike in traffic, it’s a core service used by all devices manufactured by one the worlds largest tech companies. If they don’t test for massive scale it w

This can be as devastating class action law suit. If enough people start exercising their right to arbitration it can get VERY costly for Facebook. I can’t find the story now, but there was a case in I think California of a company suing to

I know I’m just repeating what a lot of other have said, but this is sort of missing how this works. To use SSH as an example: What you’re describing is essentially using a fingerprint instead of a private key or password for logging into a

It’s not only true if you don’t your free time. It’s only true if you’re a freelancer that is turning down hours at a higher rate than what you’re saving. Many people working on products, both on their own and within a company, aren’t turni

It doesn’t cost anything to spend 4 hours of your time doing anything, so it doesn’t really wipe out any savings. Reducing a bill from $400 month to $200 is real money, not some theoretical time/value judgement. And, as others have men

I think what makes it harder with social movements is that they’re often rooted in anger. I’m sure “fund social programs” would have a wider appeal than “de-fund the police” (which is sort of two sides of the same coin), but people are angr

I think it’s fair to say that, generally speaking, individuals conflate value and compensation, especially when it’s related to a job being done. That feeling of performing uncompensated work is what OP is claiming MLMs are taking advantage

I think one aspect missing from the discussion of whether or not Sweden has done the right thing is just how much power a government has over its citizens. In many cases I think the consensus in Sweden is that the government doesn’t have th

Context based advertising doesn’t require cookies or storing/transmitting personal information. Advertising would be just fine. Facebook netted $18 billion in 2019, there’s a long ways to go before they aren’t making money.

I don’t think it’s at all pedantic, the library doesn’t accept a path and by extension is one step of abstraction away from a file. I’ve used the CSV library many times with an in memory TextIO object (like an http response). It’s an import
