Exactly, although we use cosine similarity.

Quite a bit of time. The product would still work without the feature, but it is a major feature. It bypasses lots of wading through dropdowns (potentially dozens for a single session)

We do something very similar with embeddings in our product. Users import files that they have to match to a dynamically-defined target schema. The embedding matching provides suggested matches to the user that are generally very accurate,

It's not using an LLM, it's just comparing embeddings (which are waaay cheaper)

Advocating a new global constructed language to accomodate C's shortcomings seems like the wrong direction to be thinking.

One data point from the above-linked Technology Connections video: decades after the end of the Phoebus cartel, the lifespan of most lightbulbs remained at 1,000 hours. You could get longer-life bulbs, but they consumed more power for a giv

I got a Kraft mac & cheese one as a joke and had it on my desk at work. Every now and then someone would walk past and press it. Went straight to the local food bank.

It’s not changing any definition, it’s ceasing to add any new leap seconds to UTC. Which is what the BIPM is planning to do anyways!

Antenna design is wildly complicated, but once you start coiling you get more problems as it becomes more inductive and you get weird phasing. I think the short answer is no, but this is out of my element (unintentional antenna pun)

I think the primary constraint would be the antenna. Generally speaking, the longer the wavelength, the longer the antenna needs to be to efficiently receive it (or transmit it). You can still receive/transmit with a too-short antenna,

I think you're responding exactly in a way GP is talking about, namely "that they can’t actually evaluate it the way that political philosophers define it." Anarchism does not mean that there are no leaders or leadership.

> You are free to use TAI instead of UTC in your computing projects, and don't have to try to change the definition of UTC. Not if you want to interoperate with basically any other system that uses time.

Yes. I think antilog name used to be more common in engineering, and commonly referred to 10^x rather than e^x. Some calculators even had a log^-1 button.

Is there any evidence that the heat from cars directly contributes meaningfully to temperature in cities? I’m genuinely curious (but skeptical). Edit: Some back of the envelope math: Article says cars add 1.2 * 10^6 BTU of heat per day to M
