Yes, there are electric recumbent trikes out there, such as the Tadpole. A friend of mine got one after he recovered from a stroke and could no longer balance on a conventional bike. He rode it to work. It got him outdoors, with "anyth

The only moving part right now is the fan. That's needed because even a small amount of forced air flow greatly reduces the size of radiating fins needed to transfer heat from the system to the outside. Any compact fridge also needs a

Who uses PayPal any more? I do. I have a side business that makes a gadget, akin to a guitar pedal. It has worked flawlessly for me, for well over a decade. Occasionally I casually search for an alternative (to have a backup) but have never

They're not robbing us blind. They're taking care of our manufacturing so that we can invest in things like the financial industry, fossil fuels, and AI.

A possible issue with consolidation is "too big to fail." The bigger the company, the more likely that the government goes into denial about it rather than meeting the problem head-on.

Do cows experience non-existence the way that non-existent humans do, or more like non-existent rocks, or something in between?

The POS handles it automatically. The workers know how the tips are split. Remember that tip income is offset by a lower base wage. They do expect tipping.

Both of my kids are tipped workers in the US. The places where they work do this exactly. One place is a very popular restaurant with counter service. The other is a bar. I also earn tips playing music on the side.

The Z80 was my "first" microprocessor, in an odd way. I've never touched one. It was the early 80s, and my mom was getting Byte Magazine, which I devoured. I had taken a high school programming class in BASIC, and was interes

My jimmies are hard to rustle. I'm fortunate that I have flexible hours, and can leave work if I need to visit a clinic. If either of my adult kids gets sick, they start making calls to find someone who can take their shift. So I suspe

Along similar lines, if you hang the shape by a string, the line of the string will go through the center of mass, and you can cut along that line.

Here's what happens in my locale. If you show up in an ER, they quickly decide whether you need emergency care, or regular urgent care, delivered in the same facility. And medicine is anything if not statistical, so they know the amoun

I suspect that the "service" distinction is no less arbitrary than tipping in general. It might not seem that an occupation has a service component until it vanishes. How can counter service go wrong? Famous last words. If tipping

In my view, a drawback of tipping is that it's impossible to predict how much a job actually pays. This makes it harder for workers to compete for higher wages by changing jobs. Thus it probably has the net effect of depressing overall

What I've noticed in my area is that people just don't ride on rainy days. If I'm at work and it starts to rain, someone will offer me a ride. It doesn't occur to people that a bike can get wet. Bikes are sold without mu

It's less of an issue for this device. The reason is that the motor is further from the axle than a hub motor would be. Thus, there's less force on the frame for a given amount of torque.
