M&A is also another interesting case for layoffs, in this case it might not follow this traditional format as it could be redundancies that are eliminated because of political reasons and not necessarily performance/salary. It feel

I think the open source approach is probably the most likely at this point. To become a meaningful disruptor in the space, you need a product that does something much better (or at least start of with parity features but free). If you can s

This is an awesome concept video. Autonomous sailing, which sounds like a natural next step after self-driving,autopilot etc would be easier, but probably more points of failure and less chance of repair. I definitely don't know the co

I had the same question yesterday (saw it previously and thought it was a styling issue or maintenance mode etc). It would be nice to have a tooltip on hover to tell people what it's about. Good way to pay tribute.

It looks like they are/were all prisoners based on the word 'Felon' on his name plate as well as the orange pants. Definitely will be an interesting story (maybe repurposing felons as robots to test stuff).

Interesting read. Although, I wasn't a fan of the banner asking for feedback at the bottom. I immediately clicked no without reading what it was (It was something to the extent of 'Is this page helpful?') Although, after dism

Interesting that it's a management buyout. It sounds like the head of Quicken has a significant stake in this buyout. So, obviously he has some amount of confidence in the company to put his own money into it.

This post is just a person's account of something they have experienced. Why is everyone so bent on getting them to identify the issue or saying it might be other reasons they got fired etc. Take it for what it is, just like any other

I'm in the middle of the application process for an MBA, and have thought about this before (cost and time investment). An MBA is not a magical piece of paper that will guarantee success. However, it will definitely give you the resour

Are you talking about specific countries? I know that it's only for STEM specializations (in countries like US), which doesn't cover an MBA.

I'm curious regarding the economics of this but could anyone approximate the cost associated with this move or expenses going forward. It sounds like this would be a pretty big account for Google.

If you strongly believe this, you could do something similar to what the guy did in 'The Big Short', short the relevant markets within your timeframe and you'll be recession proof.

I came in thinking this was something related to React Native (i.e open source OS for Android etc), but was pleasantly surprised to learn about this new OS, quite an achievement, seeing as they've been going on for 10 years.

This is a great move. I've never heard of IK12 before, I thought Panorama Education was funded by YC but it's great to hear they're creating an Education vertical. I'm really interested in how the EdTech space will chang

Why can't the startup be based in a smaller city and have people working remotely or if needed just the engineering team where the talent is? It all depends on the product/market. This might be another reason, most companies proba

Nope, it's all the same in the lottery, the only reason it feels like they are more likely to get it is because they apply for more and hence the probability of getting picked in the lottery is higher. Ex: Amazon files 600 petitions an

I'm surprised there isn't already some sort of name generator that does this for you (like all the other startup and funny name generators). It should just ask you what it does and then convert it to some sort of camelcase or titl

I always wondered if this was doable with standard tech, something like Twilio for the DIY person. This is awesome! I'm guessing the main reason for that much RAM is traffic, can you approximate how much traffic a Pi can handle?

If/When Tesla achieves a full self-driving car, I feel like the Uber's of the world would go bankrupt (perhaps a little drastic). Tesla can just as easily cut out the middleman and create the complete experience.

Did you overwrite the App Store installed version or did you just download from scratch and install? I overwrote the MAS version and it came up.
