Nobody’s trying to get grok to talk about MechaHitler. At that point you just know Musk said that out loud in a meeting and someone had to add it to groks base prompt.

Revenue and monthly active users are still lower than in 2022, and decreasing. And thats based on estimates, because twitter doesn’t report those numbers.

Most of the local journalists, politicians, game devs, and open source maintainers i followed left. It’s just US national pundits, bots, and bait monetization accounts there at this point.

There’s a difference between a 3rd party twitter bot and grok. And it’s not a “bad release”, it’s been like this ever since it launched. Funny how ChatGPT is vanilla and grok somehow has a new racist thing to say every other week.

Very poor article. Doesn't even acknowledge the main reason people use containers, which is to reliably setup, manage, and replicate an environment regardless of the machine it’s running on. And this guy runs a bitcoin payment service?

I think that bubble is called the real world. Most people don’t care for classic music.

That’s not my argument. Even if his music was “absorbed”, it doesn’t mean people know who he is. I’d argue that most people under 30 who know Erik found him through youtube. If you’re older I can understand why it seems perplexing but it’s

I think you’re overestimating how much people listen to music from 100 years ago. Youtube is probably hugely responsible for Erik’s modern popularity.

You’re in a thread arguing that it’s ok for “western governments” to have cyber weapons but not Iran because Iran is morally inferior. If you don’t believe that then admit it and apologize for the confusion. Don’t try to move the goalposts.

Reviewing code is harder than writing code. I know staff engineers that can’t review code. I don’t know where this confidence that you’ll be able to catch all the AI mistakes comes from.

Copy and paste gives us a fast draft of repetitive code. That’s never been the bottle neck. The bottle neck is in the architecture and the details. Which is exactly what AI gets wrong, and which is why any engineer who respects his craft se

You can have as many rules as you want, accidents still happen, and with guns they’re often lethal. Guns can never be safe.

You’re right that you can always cancel your subscription. Personally it just feels kinda like buying time, so I’d rather have a more permanent solution. The enshittification seems inevitable.

There was a headline here the other day that Youtube Premium Lite will now have more ads. Eventually Premium will have ads too. It’s just a matter of time.

Guns are not safe. No matter what you do, accidents will happen. I don’t think Youtube is the place to look for education, and neither does youtube apparently. It’d be pretty bad if someone watched youtube videos and thought they could hand

Not really. I fly a lot. Lounges are entirely superfluous. Business class is overkill when premium economy exists. Boarding early is silly, the plane takes off at the same time. People just like feeling like they’re special, and they think

I don’t think that’s a reasonable assumption. Companies take losses on all the time. Think about airline points programs. Strictly speaking the airline is losing money on it, but they judge that overall it’s worth doing.

Thanks for the detailed comment! Patrick’s argument is flawed because it assumes that if the interchange fee pays more than the cost of providing benefits, then it’s not a “subsidy”. This is false because the interchange fees, and in fact a

I don’t know why you’d trust the guy that works for a credit card processor telling you that credit cards are fair, actually. And Twitter doesn’t show threads unless you’re logged in btw, so you just linked Patrick’s opinion.

We could argue about the monetary value of points, but I don’t think we would get anywhere. Instead I’d rather focus on human nature and induced behaviour. When mcdonald's offers 2 burgers for the price of one, they make money because

It actually literally contradicts what you said. People flying any amount (at christmas with their family) are paying bag fees.

They make extra money from fools thinking they can beat the system, not from the people that avoid it. If points systems caused losses then nobody would have them. They’re money makers, and that money is coming from someone’s pocket.

It’s not false. Patrick disagrees with it. The atlantic doesn’t. The general consensus is with the Atlantic, but it’s not a clear cut subject.

This argument ignores the fact that AI makes it so much easier to ship a ton of garbage. It’s like comparing a machine gun to a matchlock pistol and saying they’re the same thing.

States are like countries in the same way that I’m like a horse. We’re both mammals with 4 limbs, but that’s about it. Plenty of countries have states with distinct laws and cultures. Canada, Brazil, England, Italy, etc. That doesn’t mean t

I didn’t say jogging was faster than cycling, I said it’s about as dangerous. Which is what the data from the study cited in the video shows. So i’m not sure why you’re bringing up speed.

Sounds like a dysfunctional country where states seem like they have a lot of power but they really don’t because they don’t control their borders. And a few holdouts can ruin everything for the large majority. If your states were like real
