Idk, I've taken more than one 6 month break in my career and I'm fine. If you've got the skills nobody cares. And besides, it's easy to fudge it in tech. Say you were working on a side project or a startup idea, or did s

The point is that life compounds, and it can be nearly impossible to salvage a bad situation. For example, it's a lot harder to save a bad marriage than it is to try again, and avoid your previous mistakes. Does this mean that you shou

I see where you're coming from, but that doesn't match my experience. Plenty of non white people immigrate to different countries to try their luck at a better life. Maybe the difference is what standard you compare yourself to? -

Why would you need connections to take a 6 month break? All you need is a bit of money, 2-4 months of your salary at most. Obviously if you have dependents it's harder to move physically, but not impossible, and quitting a job is total

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS COMMENT!!! I've made big moves, with no plan, and more often than not it's been a good experience. Even the moves I regretted ended up teaching me more about myself. I'm sorry it hasn't worked out f

I don't know why you're going to such lengths to defend someone who claimed they would be arrested by the corporate cops for thought crime. Over Google building some employee housing close to their office.

Right, whether it's better than renting financially depends on a lot of factors. There's benefits to renting too, you have to make the right choice for yourself.

Where's the corporate police? The thought crimes? If the argument is that consolidation of employers and landlords is worrying, then we can have a discussion. If the argument is that the corporate police is gonna kidnap you, then you&#

It's hard to overstate how monumental Stack Overflow was even 10 years ago. I remember being in University and dreading my computer graphics classes because SO didn't have answers for a lot of those questions at the time.

I guess in my mind the argument is that the entire allure of a casino is that there's an illusion of skill to the games. Nobody wants a pure chance game, and the casinos know this, so they make games that allow for some degree of skill

IMO the casino is responsible for enforcing the rules of the game. If the players sliding dice didn't trigger some sort of detection, that doesn't make it a crime to slide the dice.
