Read some of the many stories out there about the NSA, please. They have backdoors into internet infrastructure. If any country is a threat to information security, it’s the USA.

Where’s the plausible deniability to using the n word? I guess if you were singing? But I don’t think that’s the example you had in mind here.

That’s awesome. I chose Japan as my place to live, but NL was a close second. I’ll have to think about it again next time I move.

On one hand, yes this policy is insane. On the other hand, if you work at Meta you gave up your ethical concerns at the door, so it shouldn’t be a surprise.

It’s a whole thing because Quebec threatened to secede in the 80s, so the federal government doesn’t intervene unless provinces ask for it. I’m not sure about the legal basis for it either though hahaha. And like, I agree with you in genera

Sure, but like I said the federal government can’t deploy them, only the provinces. And the premier of Ontario is a drug addict nimby conservative that hates trudeau, so he refused to do anything about it.

I’ve set up automated accessibility tests like this at multiple companies I’ve worked at as well. We didn’t have a dedicated accessibility team though, so I paired it with a shit list which the team worked through in less than a year.

There’s no federal police, the government can make their resources available but it’s up to the province to use them or not. And sure, you could use funding, but there’s no guarantee that that would have solved the problem. The province cou

This is very easy to say as someone who wasn’t affected by the situation. Most people supported the federal governments decision.

It’s very interesting to me that the author realizes he knows nothing about physics and robotics, but feels justified in talking about “saving the government” even though he also doesn’t understand economics. This entire post is about havin

That’s called class consciousness, and I agree, and I think most people have already realized companies are not their friend after the last two years of layoffs. But like I said, I’m not worried about it in the imminent future, and I have e

That’s a deliberate choice to slow down cars though. For example, Seoul has great public transport but high speed limits and traffic light patterns make it so that cars are twice as fast as trains. Of course, that pollutes the city and kill

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a developer who enjoys refactoring a messy, bug ridden code base. This is the reason why rewrites happen, nobody wants to touch the old code with a ten foot pole and it’s easier to just rewrite it all. So if

I have a coworker who I suspect has been using LLMs to write most of his code for him. He wrote multiple PRs with thousands of lines of code over a month. Me and the other senior dev spent weeks reviewing these PRs. Here’s what we found: -

Japan makes car ownership ridiculously expensive and inconvenient. People spend an average of 100,000 yen on a car per month, that’s a third of the average monthly income. Speed limits are low across the board, and there’s tons of traffic c
