Hi, one of the antitude devs here. I really don't think it's very run of the mill. We tried to take decentralisation as far as we could, which I don't think many other architectures do. We also tried to make it simple to depl

There was the Bre-X scandal where a geologist "fell" out of a helicopter and the founder was kidnapped by gunmen (and apparently died later of a brain aneurysm). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bre-X

Well there is XSL and XQL (XML Query Language). There doesn't seem to be many XQL implementations, but this looks interesting: http://www.cs.york.ac.uk/fp/Xtract/ . Also check xmllint and xmlstar.

And? Hairdressers can't work at start-ups? I get very tired of comments like this that imply that working at a start-up or software company is somehow "better" than working at other jobs, especially those that require a reaso

The examples seem fine now. But I swear it was different last week - I can't have hallucinated adding indentation to an example file for a demo website last week! I really don't understand what happened as no-one else seems to be

I phrased it badly when I said "minified". The HTML is available, but it's not nicely formatted - all the whitespace is gone etc. I understand this saves a few bytes but it makes life harder for anyone that tries to edit it.

Am I missing something, or do they minify the example code? Why do they do that? Is there an easier to copy/edit version somewhere?

Yeah, that's a very good point. Thankfully I've never ran into this issue.

Ok, thanks for the reply. Good questions. I was mainly thinking in the context of developing webapps. I'm interested in this enough that I intend to investigate and answer all your questions, perhaps in a blog post. I don't know e

Really? I was thinking you just set up a new Docker env for each python project, then you don't need to worry about conflicting with libs from other projects. What am I missing?

On a slight tangent; does anyone else think that Docker is probably a better solution than virtualenv in most cases? I never really got on withe virtualenv.

I don't think this is accurate, in British english at least. Dictionary.com shows the etymology as unknown in the sense of to scold or to tease, but it gives the date as 1790 to 1800. http://dictionary.reference.com/bro

It makes very depressing and uninspiring reading; I don't want to think of my life as being consumed by work. I think you just need a slightly different angle: many happy people have a driving project or belief that inspires them. I th

Right, so the problem is actually with false promotion and not with Agile at all. If you picked on the people or the culture making these claims it would make more sense to me. You spend time explaining why Agile can't solve a problem

But why pick on Agile? The organisations clearly had problems that needed to be addressed which went beyond software methodologies. Should they choose a waterfall development model because it might hide the problems better in the short term
