How did this sentence make it into the article: "In turn, the $41 million people who pay to use services like Spotify was $1.6 billion."? It doesn't even read properly. (I think they mean "In turn, the 41 million people

A lot of the time it doesn't feel like that to me. People release things they have worked long and hard on, only to get a bunch of negative comments picking on holes and mistakes. The weird thing is they are the lucky ones; it's p

Ah, that's a really great explanation - thanks. I guess you lose all of the Docker metadata, links and volumes though? You should turn this into blog post if you have time - I'd upvote it anyway!

I agree that security should have been in place before they went 1.0. However, if you look at the work on the version of the registry (docker/distribution on github), they are taking things more seriously and trying to get the basics r

Reminds me of the day I foolishly did "docker run -d debian yes" so I could play with some of the inspection commands. I forgot about it and an hour later it had eaten nearly all of my hard disk space...

In a shameless self-plug, my book walks through setting the Docker development workflow, showing how to develop, test and deploy with containers. You can get it on early release now, but the current version doesn't have the deployment

Yeah, salting definitely isn't bad, in fact it's actually essential. What the author is saying is that it's not enough - salting won't save you when your attacker can test 10s or 100s of thousands of hashes a sec. The ar
