Depending on a line of credit to fund your business' operations definitely makes you the bank's biyotch. I remember Zappos being encourages/forced to sell for the same reason [1]. Their outcome had a happier ending, but the

On my commute to work, the "bike lane" is shared between bicycles, cars, parked cars (between the bikers and sidewalk), and busses. Basically, they painted bike logos on the asphalt in an already jam packed lane and told everyon

Hey! This is a topic I'm interested in, too. If you'd like brainstorming on the idea, drop me a line. My email is in profile. My first thoughts: - iterate more quickly by experimenting with non-computer users who aren't in

I'm 41, 42 next month, and working as a software engineer. At age 39 I was a technical recruiter who decided to become a developer. I've never felt my age has been a significant factor in getting work. What has been a lot toughe

I use stars as a metric in deciding which unfamiliar library seems to be real. It's right up where with number of downloads, and most recent commits. Not a perfect system. Just a sniff test.

I'd say it depends on how well the non-profit is doing. I recruited a couple dozen engineers for a couple of successful non-profits in the Bay Area. They usually paid 10% to 20% less than my startup clients, and probably offered a le

I dropped Verizon about 3 years ago for Net10 Wireless. Net10 offers "unlimited" data even on their cheapest plan, which is basically full speed for the first 500MB of data, and then 2G speed after that. Even though 2G speed is

My issue with those APT on Debian is that I almost always have to add another PPA to download a version of something that I actually want to use. That reduces the utility of APT in my view. Having a crowdsourced list of Homebrew packages

I disagree. As a friend of mine said, "if you don't trust a software package, don't use it." I have paid exactly $0 for Homebrew. Reporting usage statistics makes it better, and I'm happy to be chip in to help out

I suck at studying. It's boring, I have a short attention span for words on a page. And I'm not a good listener, so someone explaining things to me verbally is the fastest way to fill my brain. I used to try learning this way,
