This PDF has been the most helpful reference for me while learning R this last year.

I imagine the author chose kWh/day because your electrical bill is measured in those units. This is the most important way of looking at it.

This is a problem with Chronic and not with the webapp. It looks like Chronic doesn't understand the distinction between midnight and noon. *Edit: Looks like a lot more is wrong with Chronic. http://www.timeapi.org/pdt/seven%20hours%20befo

Designing and executing experiments is a skill that goes beyond science and beyond entrepreneurship. It will serve you well in everything you do. The big take-away is when you learn to only make conclusions your experiment set out to find.

This paper covers a lot of the basics in addition to the complex stuff I don't understand yet. I'll definitely be keeping it saved as a general R reference as I do more work in R.

Almost the only reason you'd need to use R. I cringe when professors ask their students to use non-free software when equivalent or better free alternative exist.

Their approach to hosting brings along with it some technical limitations. I recently ran into the situation of wanting to store files on Heroku but their system (understandably) does not support it. The way to get file storage on Heroku is

This would be considerably more useful if you would write up your motivations for doing this and follow it with what you learned from the users and why you think this may or may not be an effective tool.

Pipelining and increasing max requests is considered harmful. Please do not enable these. Both Mozilla and WebKit discourage this and for good reason.

Check that you have sufficient ambient light in the room. A bright screen against a darker backdrop can cause eye strain. White walls and a small, low-wattage light can fix this.

The use of www is incongruous with the idea that the text before your domain name is a subdomain. The URL format I expect is (protocol)://[credentials@][subdomain].(domain) and www breaks this.

This is seriously useful-awesome. Seeing one gem's progress is great. I would love to see a more abstract view of gem ecosystem as a whole and how much activity there seems to be going from failing to working .

Step back a moment and ask yourself if the anecdote is really a case of a student not playing by implied rules. The teacher most likely had an idea of what they wanted to see students do but failed to make it clear. This was effectively a c

This was my first reaction. My second reaction was to wonder why the place for improvement isn't coming in the form of easier access to direct power sources. I want power surfaces that let me place my cell phone down to recharge it.
