I can't imagine how horrible that would be for residents. They've spent the best part of a decade building building building flats, only to plop a giant advert into each and every resident's eyeballs 24/7. I don't l

I read “The Bitcoin Standard” which I really enjoyed. However i’m not finding “The fiat standard” as interesting.

It's important to point out that the words "cryptocurrency" and "blockchain" aren't mentioned once in the Bitcoin whitepaper.

Just as an FYI, USDC & stablecoins (and CBDC's) are centralised and the same abuse of power is possible here too. Obviously being debanked in fiat and crypto at the same time is extremely unlikely...but possible if someone is REALL

Thanks for confirming my suspicions regarding Tailwind. Their marketing loves talking about how small the CSS file size is vs semantic, but that code still has to go somewhere - and it's a bait and switch of "smaller css" wit

Imo because the rich get richer, they inevitably need to store that wealth somewhere. Cash would be stupid because inflation, so they can buy property over market rates as a “safe haven”

It’s a tale as old as time unfortunately. Currencies have been debased for centuries. It won’t change until we have actual hard money that can’t be debased by leaders/bankers/politicians.

The caveats are interesting as I don't think I've encountered this issue with Yarn Workspaces. In my experience yarn workspaces doesn't hoist and flatten node_modules, it tends to hoist the popular version and leaves variance

I don't mind the UI on Mac so much as weird bugs where the chrome extension doesn't always work and I need to quit and restart. The iPad app UI is far more frustrating to use, mainly because the search function is hidden behind a

Yeah I agree - the design system should be a spec that engineers should adhere to - colors or spacing between elements and so forth. That leaves an engineering team to implement using the tools they are comfortable with and what works with

I think there's a sentiment that "it can't do coding therefore it has zero use" in this thread. I'm a software engineer and I daily drive a 12.9in iPad pro at home...because I don't code at home (and have a wor

What made you decide crypto was bullshit all along? It has had quite a few booms as well as busts, and various scams and frauds for good measure. As far as I know the last bust wasn’t much different to the ones that came before it.

“ or do they want them to be useful because they bought in early and want to get rich?” You could say that about any investment surely? Or do we assume all VC funded companies are altruistic endeavours only?

The “it has no value” argument against crypto currencies is flawed in my opinion because value is subjective. When you say “it is worthless because it has no value”, you’re saying “it has no value to me therefore it couldn’t possibly have v

My theory is that people want to read about things that make themselves feel better. Bad news usually does that - in that it helps us reflect that “well at least i’m not THAT guy!”

It’s your call fortunately/unfortunately. The safe option is obviously to install plugins for features that are close to passing as possible, where the api is stable at least - but there are plugins for very early stage proposals too.

For me this is where something like PostCSS shines. You simply write future css and remove the plugin when it’s supported natively. This wins in my opinion because there shouldn’t be any conversion necessary from something like Sass to CSS

My biggest pet peeve with the Spotify iOS app is the offline mode - it’s total garbage. - Every time you open the app you get a “turn on wifi to enable downloads” alert. This may or may not be an iOS thing - I try to navigate to an artist o

On conciseness (and possibly scale), isn’t the css “bloat” just being shifted to the html file instead? Has there been sufficient studies in comparing tailwind to say something like: .MyHeading {color: red; font-weight: bold} // L
