When you fully believe that a test that is "100 percent foolproof" and impartial, it's easy to convince yourself that the person in front of you must be lying. In this case the implicit assumption was something like the follo

Looking round the rest of the pages [1], it doesn't look like it's Steve Job's .mac site. On the other hand, this is a fascinating glimpse of how things you put on the internet can stick around for a long time (courtesy of th

Possibly off-topic, but I wonder when PG will be writing more essays. I remember that one of the things he was looking forward to when sama took over YC was the extra time to work on projects and write more.

I'm having trouble understanding the first part of your comment. For the latter I don't understand what you mean by 'smart'. Without some forms of regulation, people would blissfully poison themselves with dangerous food

Yup, that's what I heard (obviously 3rd hand). Second like is very useful as I've not had a chance to look at the swift docs yet.

This does still happen (e.g [1]), though I've no idea if the frequency of such posts has changed. If no-one asks questions, then there's nothing to answer (so please do ask!). On the other hand, I've noticed that more people

Why? Frankly, I'm glad that there is more stuff happening out on the net at large rather than trapped on one list. I consider it a sign of success (there are probably many more users out there than who are on the mailing list anyway).

More people trying this and learning from previous mistakes (of others) is a good thing. For example, here's a TLS implementation in pure OCaml https://github.com/mirleft/ocaml-tls I'm glad Stripe is helping

Indeed. I heard someone comment that every FP conference will be doing a 'victory lap' due to Apple's announcement. At the very least, I hope people/devs will explore ML based languages for their next project. It would b

You can read about the Mirage work at http://openmirage.org It's also a core piece of a toolstack we're putting together for building distributed systems/applications ( http://nymote.org ).

I don't think you've looked very closely (if at all?). There is tons of stuff happening in the OCaml ecosystem. Compiler improvements, large scale projects, more industrial uses and also new books. Try looking at http://

I'd argue you could/should be doing this kind of stuff from day 1. IP assignments, clean books, documented agreements etc are part of your business, not a secondary concern. Having this stuff under control throughout the life o

It runs the risk of sounding conceited rather than funny. It almost came across to me that way, but not quite (I could see the attempt at humour). You're not coming across that way here, just so you know.

This is (kind of) one of the reasons that I don't use third party services to sign in to anything. I'd rather have an email+password option and use a password manager (I'm aware that most people probably don't do this a

I'd argue that getting address books to understand what keys are and how to use them would be more impactful. If I put public keys in my address book, which is nicely integrated with my mail client anyway, then sending encrypted mail
