Pretty bad title for a blog post that talks about misleading powerpoint presentations. Some readers might make conclusions from the title alone, instead of reading the whole text below.

If I'm reading this right, it's not actually saying anything about tech hires. Given the outrageous compensation, this is probably for management roles?

Off-topic [0]: I would be very interested in an economic model that would work for such a search engine. Donations are fine, but (imho) it will take much more than that to keep the lights on, let alone expand... The "fairest" solu

It is however very rare that absolute differences matter; and even when they do, the scale should (often) be fixed. For example the temperatures: [A: 27.0, B: 29.0, C: 28.0] versus: [A: 27.0, B: 27.2, C: 26.9] If scale is fit to the min and

That's a really interesting part, and probably why the OCR works good enough for such case. Not sure about legal implications of using it though: https://www.technologyreview.com/2020/09/23/1008729/o

Not only that, but for some deployments it is actually preferable to limit the amount of money you can pay. In other words, better for the service to be down than for the company or person to be bankrupt. Last I checked, that simply wasn&#x

My anecdata (at multiple companies) supports their opinion. What matters is that there is a clear owner who is the voice of final decision. In most cases there is no objectively better way to do something, so having a person who is a tie-br

This! I would say that if there is no simple way to find commercial content (for the location of the potential customer!), the law should treat the case as if the copyright owner waived their right to the copyrighted material.

I agree that the way modern JS (need to?) download half the Internet for a semi-useful app is annoying, wasteful and dangerous. However, I still remember the hell that was updating the state and keeping the rendering in sync with it when us

This. Also, I try to: - use only those regex features that are cross-platform (cross-engine?) - avoid `\w` and similar (what is word?) and instead use explicit rules (`[a-zA-Z]+`) - use [] instead of backslashes when escaping (`[(]` instead

The same way as you write a comment in a LTR human language in the middle of RTL code - you don't. You stick to either LTR or RTL. This is code, not prose.

I would argue that even if you decide that you are using some other language and not English, there is only a well-defined subset of Unicode characters that should ever be allowed in the codebase. Bidi override control characters are clearl

Well, newsflash: you are always dealing with abstractions, no matter which layer you pick. You might just as well pick one that lets you develop more complex things faster and more reliably. That said, if you are set on actively fighting it
