Some developers need/are used to a fast edit-compile-run loop. The JIT doesn't even need to be optimized, just good enough to improve the developer experience.

I meant no reason from a technical point of view. People might say most of the compilation time is spent in the type/borrow checker, but that's orthogonal. You can JIT potentially incorrect code and postpone static checks for a la

There’s no reason you couldn’t have a rust jit for development then compile the code for production (or stick with a jit for prod too).

Some of these remind me of Ángel Duarte who made this beautiful piece of art (French page but image is the interesting bit: https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouverture_au_monde ).

Leslie Lamport's TLA+ comes from MSR. You have likely directly benefited from this project, since it's been used to prove the correctness of many distributed systems, including pieces of AWS. Z3 is a very popular open source SMT s

Reminds me dirt bike on Apple Macintosh -- you could edit pretty much every aspect of your dirt bike. Would be fun to make a car/bike game where you play against the GA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siiho5IVAdg

Since condos typically don’t have a per-unit HVAC system, the heating is managed centrally for the entire building. In winter time, it’s always too hot (in every building I have lived in), so we have to cool down our unit! Apparently, the c

The Swiss don’t typically install larger washer/dryer units. We have tiny units with ventless dryers. Maybe the smaller units are more ecological to manufacture? In USA, I can do a load of laundry + drying in 90min. In Switzerland, it

Right, we have the extractor that vents everything inside. The only sane way to cook is to open the kitchen windows (which we luckily have plenty of).

The Swiss consistently make laws to protect the environment which end up doing the exact opposite (and I’m sure the Swiss aren’t the only ones doing such things). Eg you aren’t allowed to install an A/C unit in most condos, so people b

A root CA key doesn't automatically decrypt the TLS traffic. You just need a single root CA key for a widely trusted CA to perform an active MITM attack. The attack is however likely to show up in Certificate Transparency logs.

Congrats on building this! I would be interested to use this in a server-less setting. I’ll give it a shot, I might have to figure out how to queue stuff so I can deliver metrics asynchronously.

A common model for chemical intake is based on the person's weight. I.e. if it's unsafe for the average human it's likely even worse for children, smaller animals, etc.
