Some sites (possibly hn too) do not display cached pages to authenticated users. This could be the reason you see a decrease in response time compared to when you're logged in.

They need to include 50-100 customers for the free developer plan. If I was bootstrapping a service, I wouldn't pay $99 a month for customers I don't have yet.

I couldn't help but notice Django's settings.py file. You should probably change your SECRET_KEY since the whole thing is clearly visible. From the looks of your blurry INSTALLED_APPS i'd say you are also using pinax.

I believe you can submit and apply for all of your ideas. If YC happens to pick the idea you have no co-founder for, then i'm sure you'll be able to find someone with that very specific set of skills during YC.

Because those using a framework do not dev directly on the server. I dev locally and then push full projects to my servers when complete. Now if your question is why isn't there a one click install for local dev... i'm sure it exist in one

I can't see why you shouldn't start off with a free plan available. Like you said, a free account is a great poe. If you're having low conversion rates from free to premium accounts, you could always experiment with hiding the free account
