I don't mind MrBeast, but what I really hate is how every other YouTuber has decided to copy his "screaming face" thumbnail strategy. My YouTube home page is full of screaming faces and bright text with some clickbait title.

It's true - I have to use SMS as second factor to log into iCloud. Apple don't let you use a generic OTP as MFA - the only other option is to get a notification on your iPhone or iPad. I don't have an iPhone and I rarely have

I assume this is referring to the passwordless logon feature, which most enterprises disable. But with this feature, you just need to enter the username (email address) and choose the option to log in with authenticator.

Thanks for the link - watching it now. I guess I was referring to complaints about Snap specifically. My distro of choice (Pop!_OS) and many others have specifically excluded Snap in favour of Flatpak and I hardly ever hear complaints about

This is a surprisingly good design. After seeing the headline on HN, I was convinced it was going to be terrible and lead to a ton of rants. But mostly positive comments so far.

Are there any Snap fans out there that are championing the technology? I only ever hear bad things about it (and I too, have experienced pain from it), but perhaps there's a bit of an echo chamber here. My most recent sneaky Snap exper

The first few words of the article sums it up well: "Surprising literally no one..." Elon Musk is obviously a smart guy, but he's not infallible and his management of Twitter has proved this beyond doubt.

There's an unfortunate correlation between how long and complex my password is and how I often I have to manually type it in. Microsoft are really good in this regard, and you almost never have to type in your password once you have th

Genuine question - how is it useful for them to release the server-side code? How do you know for sure that the code they have released is the same as what they are running? Having the server code would be useful for self-hosting, but if yo

Something people in this thread are missing, is that this doesn't have anything to do with the process of taking a photo (unlike the moon issue). The "Remaster" feature is part of the Samsung gallery, and you can use it to &q

I just asked GPT-4 to "generate an ansible playbook that will install oh-my-zsh on a linux computer?" It did a much better job of the playbook than the one I created last week. GPT-4 did it in a few seconds, and mine took about an

I didn't buy my S23 because of this feature, but it's a neat trick and I've taken a few moon photos while out walking at night. Maybe you could argue the marketing is misleading, but AI-assisted photography isn't unique

I don't understand why Meta and Twitter are charging a monthly fee for this. Surely, it's in their best interest to have as many verified users as possible on their respective platforms? Surely, they want to get to the point where

I agree about the questionable content on Substack. It has become a safe haven for all sorts of conspiracy theories and questionable reporting, and so I treat any new Substack I come across with an extra dose of scepticism. However, I do su

I don't have anything against Apple pundits - I enjoy Marco's posts and will often go to his Twitter to see his views on an Apple announcement. But Gruber is beyond just a pundit.
