What type of developer do you need? What skills do they need that you want? If you want a .net programmer, find a .net/windows job board or visit the forums on msdn. Same applies to other languages, fields.

I've used both and both are adequate for deploying a web application. That said, I'd recommend AWS if you're looking for more than just a box e.g dns, cdn etc.

I think it's too early to suggest how the digital goods market will develop in terms of share - we only know that it is developing. An interesting perspective though the fact the author is short on Amazon is nothing new either.
