How is that really any different from someone engaging in off-topic banter in an IRC channel? Humans are being human and I don't really see how the problem as you describe it is somehow specific to non-IRC mediums.

I just turn off notifications on Slack and only pay attention to it when I choose to. As a result, someone being silly with reaction emojis or memes in a channel just doesn't really bother me.

Rightly or wrongly, many PHP functions are thin wrappers around third-party C libraries and they tend to return values without interpretation of the results. For your example of openssl_verify see https://linux.die.net/man&#

I don't like Facebook and I don't like their privacy practices. However, $5B is approximately 20% of their cash on hand so I think that we aren't talking about "parking ticket" level fines. For real changes in beha

Maybe - but definitely no sharing of profiles between dev & nightly and as you can see based on other comments in this thread I'm not the only one that has witnessed the behavior.

I run mostly FF dev & nightly and I've had it happen to me multiple times. I'm assuming the Pocket getting re-enabled problem is the result of an internal update to the extension that caused it to re-populate all the defaults

In a similar vein, I'd appreciate it if Mozilla would stop using updates to Firefox as a mechanism to re-enable misfeatures I've explicitly disabled like Pocket integration and the "recommend X feature|extension while you are

We really need some form of frictionless micropayment system that goes directly to the publishers. I would gladly pay for ad-free web content (for example, NYT and WSJ) if they made it possible for me to pay them via a consumption based mod
