BitBucket seems to have a lot of Python projects hosted there which might take a chunk out of Python's share on Github.

Apple certainly could have made it easier to put any old video you want into iTunes, I think they made a strategic decision to coax people into purchasing video through iTunes by making it hard to just drop AVIs into it. If they had tried t

Don't underestimate the influence of developers and the tech elite jumping on a usable desktop Unix in the early 2000s. The first places I ever saw more than one or two Mac laptops in one room were developer meetups. And you know each of th

Betting against high-selling low-margin products would be like betting against Wal-Mart. You can co-exist with them but you can't beat them at their own game, and their game is around to stay.

HTML's smooshing two spaces together was offensive to me in the 90s when I was learning it after being a touch typist since I was 7 years old. I still double space, but no one knows unless they view source.

Drupal's localization infrastructure is quite nice. Instead of 'echo' you use the function t() which lets users use a GUI to translate all tokens in a Drupal site.

A lot of Apple products don't have any activation at all and rely on the honour system. The times I've pirated desktop software was because I was annoyed that I had to tie the installation to a single machine. The Mac app store lets you ins

Omni Group are the best example of a great Mac developer that isn't huge like Adobe or MS. They sell best-of-their-kind software for the iPad for quite high prices, and are doing very well. I don't see this changing in the Mac app store.

There's also lots of $2 games on Steam and it hasn't killed the premier developers' ability to charge $30 or $40 or more for their AAA titles.

I think games will be where WP7 will shine, Microsoft has the best game and media development APIs out there for any platform, and there are many many developers who've been building high quality games for Xbox and PC who could move to the

IIRC id's first game on iOS was Wolfenstein 3D which originally cost $9.99 when I bought it. They are probably aiming for the left-hand side of the price / demand curve for Rage to gain new fans, where Wolf3D was targetted at people who al
