The implicit social contract with gifts goes both ways. You got it as-is, don't expect a commercial relation. If you run into trouble with your gift, and you need it fixed by a particular deadline, either fix it or pay someone to fix

Oh, I know. I took the "did the Russians struggle just as much?" question qualitatively, as in, yes, the Mig-21 was also notoriously unsafe and the Russians struggled with it, too. Their track records would be very difficult to co

Make of it what you will, but Mig-21s used to be nicknamed "flying coffins" in some places behind the Iron Curtain. They were notoriously unsafe.

Some systems also had expansion cards with an x86 processor on them. A more recent example would be Sun's SunPC and SunPCI cards -- you plugged these in a SBus or PCI slot, and ran x86 code on a real x86 processor. IIRC that's act

KDE had exactly that back in its 3.x era, actually. It had a first run wizard that allowed you to choose things like whether you open things with a single or a double click, and options were largely organised based on platforms with similar

I use a more compact theme (QtCurve, at least with Plasma 5.27, I'm not sure if it's going to work with Plasma 6). IMHO if I have to disable UI elements to make an application usable, that just means they're too big. That

There are quite a few abrasive replies upthread from some Rustaceans. They don't mention Rust by name, just like not every one of Drepper's mails contained the world "glibc", but they're in the same vein. This is p

There are two things I have learned from this thread: 1. glibc has been handling things with a lot more civility post-Drepper, and while it's had as hard a time as any OS infrastructure project, that's helped a lot when it came to
