If you want to dispute the cancellation fee Uber occasionally hits you with when the driver cancels, it helps to know the driver's name, which you can't find in the app after he cancels.

I screenshot every time a driver accepts the ride, for the almost inevitable dispute later.

Maybe 100 years ago it was as benign as you suggest, but it's since been hijacked by other interests, including a eugenicist and a leader who was kicked out of Greenpeace for being too radical.

You do have a valid point, but phantom braking is most definitely an issue, and can most definitely cause a crash that would not have happened otherwise. Any system that gets spooked and hauls on the anchors for no reason, even once, is not

Nissan would never have been Tesla. They might have been the largest producer of EVs if history had run a different way, but that's a million miles away from being Tesla.

Other countries and economies have chosen not to reward value-creators for the value they create. So far this has not worked out well for these countries and economies.

If you believe in Matt Levine's Elon Markets Hypothesis, paying 20% over market to be in close proximity to Elon's Twitter feed might be a bargain.

What kind of storage? I wouldn’t bank on chemical storage technologies, at least if we want the type of reliable electrical grid that’s allowed us to develop as advanced industrial nations. Generally, reducing storage cost runs into the typ

I suspect the "Recipe Life Story" nonsense was sparked by a highly-publicised (in SEO circles) study several years ago, which claimed the average #1 result in SERPs contained ~2000 words. This started a race to make every web page

You should probably argue your anti-Trump case somewhere relevant. Your points have nothing to do with either of the comments you're replying to.

You should re-read the simple sentence you're replying to. At the 2016 election, if you didn't want Hillary elected, you had to vote Republican, i.e. for Trump. How is this even up for debate?

I'm not arguing "Thiel is a good guy", but if he didn't want Hillary elected (assumption), using his public profile to boost Trump pre-election != actual MAGA hat Trump true believer.

That's not really true. There are and have been many states, provinces and cities where my line of work is rewarded with high pre-tax pay, but the cost of living in those places (especially housing) makes it uneconomic.
