So.. it's click tracking. Big deal. The magic of HTML is that the link that's displayed (the original if shorter?) doesn't have to match the actual href. To use the zombo.com example above, why can't Twitter use the "shortener" to track red

Seems like an awful lot of words to say (a) computing has changed much in the last 15 years [you don't say!], and (b) we're going to start talking about changes early so the market isn't surprised or apprehensive. Not much meat in there.

You mean like http://fafsa.gov ? They tell users to get the latest browser version, and then block them if they're running anything higher than Firefox v3.6. (Complaints are met with "install 3.6" or crickets. Same problem with running an

Efficient for whom? Most grocery stores I frequent have replaced several lanes of "efficient" cashiers with the much slower (for shoppers) self-checkout systems. Yes, the lines may be shorter, and the store needs fewer checkers (one can cov

Yes, it's irresponsible to _only_ excoriate the line workers. But wholly absolving them does no good either. Surely, there's enough blame to go around. (With an added helping for Congress, perhaps?)

No. As I understand GAAP, the projected inflation and projected income (including interest) are taken into account at least annually. The company then pays the delta (or underpays the next installment by the delta, if appropriate). A proble

Great quote, thank you. A buddhist blog [1] attributes it to Shirdi Sai Baba, and notes the phrase is also attributed to the Quakers. [also, 2] ("Before you speak, ask yourself: Is it kind, is it true, is it necessary, does it improve upon

A legislative body can't force a segmentation of funds on their own! (I always laughed when my state legislators promised to do this.) Such a decision is overridable by 50%+1 of the legislative body--that same number that is would take to s

I've had similar concerns with many articles as the GP (as clarified in the sibling comment): namely that so much of it is a clash of ideologies, and it's inconstant with my own. I don't have the time or inclination to deal with ideologues—

Perhaps it's not your cup of tea, so to speak, but the internet has enabled a great deal of collaboration, digitization, and distribution of genealogical research and sources as well. Other internet-focused "charities" include post-disaster

In support of your comment, I think some are forgetting how horrible Netscape 6 actually was to use. (Or am I just getting old? It wasn't that long ago!) Compared to earlier versions it was incredibly slow—even by the standards of the time—

It doesn't seem to me that the candidate's response for #2 is "correct" (as you say). The most simple refutation being a 5:12:13 primitive triangle scaled 199,999x (such that the smallest side is less than, but not equal to, a million). Res
